I don't have any specific needs right now for a new motor, but I found a guy selling new 3/4 hp baldor motors for $10 each. How can you let a deal like that slip by?

What could a make from a 3/4 hp motor? A disc grinder? Any other ideas?

I am using one for a homemade buffer using my grinders vfd. Originally planed to use the motor for another 2x72 that is dedicated for the small wheel attachment

Paper wheel is also a great idea. I'll have to find a vfd for this now.

Well, I'm on my way to buy all 4 of them! I might have to part with one or two of them.

I have a buffer on my grizzly already, but I like the idea of a dedicated small wheel grinder.

:( When I went to see the motors I discovered that they were all 575 volt. I couldn't pass up a good deal so I still bought them.

I have been searching for ways to add a transformer and vfd to get it to 115v but I'm not sure it's possible or practical.

I might just have to get rid of them on fleabay and buy a 115v.

Bummer. Always seems to be a hitch. I haven't looked really hard, but I've never seen that voltage in the factory. Plenty of 440v, 220v, even 110v, but not that. Hopefully you can flip em for a good price.

hgrauctions on eBay usually has Baldor 3/4HP 3ph 240VAC motors starting at $3.99. It would not be cost effective to start adding transformers and VFDs to save nothing. Those motors will be hard to get rid of in the US. This may be a good lesson on looking at why a deal is such a deal....because it often isn't!

You can run that motor on 480VAC 3Ph, but that is probably not in your shop either. You will find 3Ph VFDs with 440VAC 3Ph output, but that is stretching the voltage drop a lot.
