It seems like I am always asking questions like this.
I just obtained quite a large supply of 316SS bar stock (3/8"x1") that I can use for bolsters and finger guards. The price was right, it was given to me, it was laying around a friends shop for years. I have never used it before, I have always used 303SS. I realize that 316SS is more corrosion resistant due to the nickel content, but I was wondering if it was as tough as 303SS? I am probably going to have to use 303SS pins to peen the bolsters or guards. I am going to have to test a piece to see if the "color" of the two sre compatible, in other words, to see if I am able to see the pin after I polish.
Has anyone on this board had any experience with 316?
