Can someone translate the "A" listings on the Trizact belts to plain english grit sizes?

TIA

Hmm, this is just off the top of my head, but here goes:
A65-> 240/280 grit
A45-> 400 grit
A30-> 600 grit
A16-> 1000 grit
A6-> 2000 grit

BTW, is it just me or do these not seem to stay 'fresh' very long when you use em on 3V?

A100=180 grit
A65=240 grit
A45=320 grit
A30=400 grit
A16=900 grit
A6=1800 grit

Right out of the catalog.

3V eats Trizact belts in a hurry. It will go from fresh belt to used up in one blade in my experience.

On the grit equivalents, I've seen three different ratings now. Both the above are in the ballpark, IMO.

Win,

Sorry, I should have stated that the conversion came from the Bader catalog. Bader is usally pretty informative about things, so I would venture to say that this is accurate.

the trizact belts to me seem not to last long period. not a good value for their high cost. i prefer the ceramics. life became a grind, so i bought a grinder. laurence segal RHINOKNIVES.com

I got them in A165. What's that for a grit size?

Rhinoknives, you have to use a soft backup for those belts. If you use them on a plain steel grinding plate, they won't last long and won't grind well. I got this information from the technical support of my 3M dealer.

One thing that I may add. They will burn micarta like nobody's business (I had to try) unless you slow your grinder waaaaaaaaay down.

They work extremely well with steel, not so good with any handle material that I have found.
