They need to up their game. Even the Condor undertaker bowie comes with a nice, thick leather sheath. Its a simple design, but really heavy duty. It seemed that Lynn tried to match up a quality sheath with the premium knives. An example is the ox blood leather cover for the Vietnam tomahawk. He could've just thrown a piece of black nylon on it. Those small touches went a long way.

Still not in stock with the official UK distributor and they have a 'reduced price's £450 ($515) for a Recon Scout and £540 ($615) for a 3V Laredo! Neither of those in stock either.
Hard pass at those prices

Seems like Cold Steel has been slowly rolling out the new products one by one. I wonder if the 4034 Natchez and Laredo are next.

Prices should come down if they can keep them in stock. I would like to know if the Laredo has a grivory handle and if the guard is brass or stainless. The Natchez appears to have a stainless guard and pommel and a grivory handle in some stock photos, and brass fittings in other photos. I wish someone at GSM could get it together and post a cogent reply to any question

ALL the fittings are SST and the handle is micarta

The site we are referring to has the Natchez listed with Griv-Ex handles.

Cold Steel's website shows a picture of of the Natchez with what appears to be brass fittings.
We have one website with the correct picture and possibly the wrong handle material listed, and the companies website showing brass fittings, while a customer review states the Natchez has stainless fittings.

The same thing happened with the Recon Scouts that finally came out in December/January: some pics on some sites showed it with a brass guard and others with a stainless guard. Everyone who bought one, myself included, has a stainless guard. Not really a problem but odd nonetheless.

For what it's worth, the 3V on my Recon Scout has held up very well and so far I'm impressed with it. That said, I would not pay ~$400 for any of these CS bowies.

On the TM, RS, and Natchez, they historically had brass fittings on the carbon models and stainless fittings on the stainless and San Mai models (the Laredo had brass either way). So would make sense that the 4034 models would have stainless fittings, but if the 3V models have stainless that’s a departure. And websites may use old stock photos that don’t match the current offering.

I think the days of brass on the really big CS fixed blades are firmly in the past. I wouldn’t believe a photo showing brass was on a new TM, Nat or Laredo. YMMV

After a fair bit of time hunting around I found an O-1 Laredo with a micarta handle... and I think the guard is brass. It LOOKS like brass. I reckon this is the best combo in this knife. Not that easy to find though, I don't think.

I didn't much like the sheath so I had a knifemaker make a nice sash style leather sheath for it and then a good friend gifted me a Commodore from Panther Concealment. This is the licensed version of the Mike Sastre 'Southern Comfort' kydex sheath which is a great system for carrying big fixed blades concealed.

With these sheaths this knife can be carried quite easily and its a wicked blade to be sure. The scales are a little slick so I'm going to add some strips of TalonGrip tape to the sides. I have some on my Natchez and it really helps keep the knife in the hand. I will shoot some pics tomorrow of the whole set-up.

The handles on the 3V Laredo and Natchez are G10. They definitely don’t feel like griv-ex or micarta.
