I EDC a spiral bound 3X5 memo book in my hip pocket. I'm looking for a cover for it both to protect it against wear, and to keep the spiral binding from tearing up my pants. I go through the books pretty quickly, so buying a Moleskine, or other "executive" note book is too expensive.

I need the following:
1) Ability to take a standard 3x5 spiral bound memo book without modification. Preferably also able to take a 3x5 glue top notepad like an Ampad 20-208
2) Flip top.
3) Thin. It goes in my back pocket, and I'm going to be sitting on it for a good part of the day. I'm only going to be carrying the memo book and maybe a golf pencil sized writing implement.
4) Available in civilian colors (black, dark brown, tan, khaki, etc). Camo doesn't work at my age.
5) Must be durable and be able to survive an unintended trip through the washer and dryer, I'm not expecting the notebook itself to survive. I have no preference for synthetic or leather.

ATM, I'm looking at the Rite in the Rain 33 and C935/C935B covers, and the HWC leather pocket 3X5 memo book covers.

Thanks in advance,

Maybe look at having a custom sheath maker whip something up for you. You could then have your choice of various skins, finishes, leather weights, etc. That would be my suggestion. There are a ton of excellent craftspeople on here. In no particular order:
Leatherman, chudy bear, psyop, Paul Long, Al Dodge, and so on.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing myself, I don't like writing notes much on my phone (cumbersome), and I like & prefer pen and paper to glass anyhow.

I have the maxpedition cover and it works really well. Can't say if sitting on it for most of the day would be comfortable as I don't carry it with me. Mine rides in the car.

I went with the Maxpedition in khaki. It was a little more compact then the RITR, and seemed to be a better design for the Ampad 20-208 stye pads.
