I asked Zero Tolerance about what steel is used in the liners of the zt 0200. They said it is 410 stainless steel. Does anyone know about the properties of this steel compared to other steels such as 440C? Is there a reason they used 410 instead of 440C, such as it is can better withstand the repeated flexing of opening and closing the lockbar over time? Any of you that are knowledgeable in steel types feel free to chime in.

Basically, it's less expensive than cutlery-grade stainless steels.

Thanks for the helpful link. I like the tab on the left that says "knife steel faq" which explains how different percentages of Cromium, Carbon, ect. affect a steel's performance.

Well, it's 0.09-0.15% range, can be anything in between, or slightly more or less, individual steel mills can tweak compositions, and still list alloy as confirming to 410 spec or whatever else.
410 and even 300 series steels will be fien as liners, depends on hardness and their thickness. After all, Titanium is used as a liner material, which is much softer than steel.
