I am using SAKs for over 37 years. I started with Spartan and then get or buy different models, up to Swiss Champ XXLT and XAVT. I have also reassembled some knives or made new scales. My EDC at the moment is Swiss Champ XLT on the belt of my going-out-trousers and Swiss Champ with stag scales on the belt of my home-trousers. I am using lot a GAK and different ALU models, among them few customs.

I have very positive relationship to ALU models – I dont like plastic very much. I decided to build custom ALU SAK which contains only tools I am using the most:
- reamer
- 2 big blades (one for brutal use – like cutting sousage on porcelain plate – the other allways stays sharp)
- electrician blade
- wood saw
- file with metal saw and nail cleaner
- magnifying glas
- marlin spike (made from phillips screwdriver)
- scissors
- bottle opener / flat screwdriver
- little blade

So I made it. It is 2,7 cm thick and it feels really comfortable in hands. I will carrying yust this knife for a while and then I will see how it behaves.

What do you think about it?
Thank you for looking.

Just over an inch thick? That's not bad at all, considering what it's packing. That's slimmer than the standard SwissChamp, correct?

I wish I knew how / had the tools / skill to customize a SAK, would love to have my own custom tool selection =(

Amazing work, thank you for posting that.

7 layers at only 2.7 cm - that's just downright clever.

I've seen mods like this done on other sites, and it makes me wonder why Victorinox doesn;t friggin do this on their own. I'm pretty sure they would be guaranteed sellers. Nice work.

Great mod!

I've rehandled a few SAK's but haven't done a full on mod/build yet.
Can you post separate pics of the tools/jig you used?

I know you have to drill the holes out in the tools from a 91 mm to make them fit but how do you get the backsprings to line up on the alox handles?
