755 MPR - Who Uses Theirs?

I got a really good deal on a 755 MPR with black blade. At first I thought I wouldn't use it much, because it's so blocky. It turns out that this knife cuts very very well, and I like the hand filling handle - it makes the knife feel like a small, stout fixed blade in my hand. It's not that bad to carry, it's not much thicker than many other folders.

The level of quality built into this knife brings back memories of Benchmade in the 1990s, when they used perfectly fitted liner locks and their knives just oozed quality. Axis locks, or really any lock that uses a spring feels cheap to me. The frame lock is great, and the little piece of G10 on the lock side makes it look so....finished :D By the way, at what point does a frame lock become a liner lock?

I really wish Benchmade would make a full sized version. I know about the 7502, but that's an auto knife which makes it a legal problem for a third of the country  I think that a full sized version of the 755 would do very well with people who want a big, stout folder. Blaze Orange G10 would be great for an emergency tool!

I don't own one but can comment on the above:

1) The frame/liner lock IS a spring, that's how it works. The most common non-spring lock I've come across is the Opinel Virobloc, a collar-lock.

2) IMHO, it's a "frame"-lock when the spring-bar is cut from the handle-frame itself rather than from an inner liner of that frame. In the case of the 755MPR, the titanium-half of the handle-frame includes the spring which is exposed at the lock-bar, which is why BM terms it a "monolock". The thin little G10-piece functions more like the trac-tec inserts on the Kershaw Blur and does not extend the length of the handle. IF the G10 sheet did cover the lock, even as thin as it is, I suppose one could term the knife a liner-lock as then the titanium, despite being the majority of the volume of that side of the handle, indeed functions as a liner. There must be a design like that out there somewhere, maybe a custom...

But it certainly looks VERY stout for such a length. I admit, not a fan of the overall design, would prefer the Spyderco Techno, but it's great to read a review. Would you have time or inclination to do a full review with photos for the BF review section?

I had few, sold them then bought another one and this time it is not going anywhere.Touched him up on the sharp maker ceramics and it is crazy sharp.M390 is for me the best overall steel .Slices, goes through cardboard like butter ,even used him for light camping duties ,and it's a one tough SOB.Carried him in my shorts and track pants ,no problem with the weight. All my Spyderco,Benchmade,CRK and the rest of the herd are in the box now,it's mini pocket rocket time and I'am really enjoying the little beast as a EDC companion.Great knife.

I always wanted one. Got caught up chasing others for the past few years. Recent one up for trades gt me hot again, sadly, my offer was declined...but it brought this model back to the front of my brain again. Whenever I find myself watching youtube vids of the same knife, more than one time each....Its only a matter of time....and well, money.

What sold me (beside the M390)

Adj. stop bar
Config of lock bar/lockside stop, over travel flange. ?.thing
Thin behind the edge, more so than Mili or PM 2 (yep, didnt believe it either)
Sibert designs a bad ass knife

I know, but it's a big spring that doesn't break randomly for any or no reason. Threads about a frame or liner lock breaking seem to start with "so I was spine whacking my knife....". Broken Omega spring threads usually start with "so I opened my knife...".

Yeah, I should be able to take some pictures this weekend.

I been carrying mine with no clip. It's just too blocky to carry clipped. I've even considered tapping it for tip up because that orientation looks a little more pocket friendly.
