9" Bandsaw blade type that won't dull after cutting G10 and Carbon Fiber?

Hey guys I have another question tonight... :D I am tryin to get a new blade for my 9" bandsaw (skil) and I am wondering what type of blade, and how many TPI would work well for cutting G10 and carbon fiber etc. without getting dull after cutting the first pair of scales. It seems obvious that more TPI would be better, but I dunno about the blade "type", such as bi-metal etc. or would a standard carbon steel blade work alright as long as there is enough TPI? Also, would a wider blade be better as well, say a 3/8" vs a 1/4" blade? Anyway any recommendations would be very much appreciated.. again! :)

Thanks

You may want to try Lennox or Starrett brand bi metal blades for cutting G 10 and carbon fiber. I use both of those blades on my portaband saw but I now cut excess g 10 with straight cuts from an angle grinder and then grind away the rest on my 2x72 belt grinder. G10 and carbon fiber just wear out those blades. Also, I have had the best luck with blades labeled 14-18 TPI. They have both spacings on their teeth. Wear a good respirator mask and run a shop vac under your saw and grinder. That carbon fiber is very dangerous to your health and I refuse to grind it anymore but if you have to then do every thing possible to get rid of the dust including grinding it outside on a portable stand in a stiff breeze. Just my opinion. Larry

I use my portaband for G10 with Lennox bimetal blades. Id get the most TPI you can and aim for a fairly wide blade. Id be worried about thinner blades frequently snapping. I think they sell 60in+ bimetal blades at lowes and sears.

I have been using the Lenox DieMaster 2 10/14 TPI in a .035 thickness and have had some good durability. carbon fiber is very abrasive and the blades will dull fast so far this blade is working the best for me. I clean up the edge with a 3M unitized wheel on a grinder and of course a large vac system attached to all.

Get your bandsaw blades from Wolf. I don't know the web address. But they are the best.

BUT, don't expect them to last vs. G10 or carbon fiber. We don't cut them with the bandsaw for this reason. We use cheap carbide tipped table saw blades to cut both of those. They do wear out too, but we expect this and its a consumable. Much faster system and much easier to get 1.5 x 5" scales. YMMV.

9 cuts into g 10 with a $130.00 80 tooth infinity miter saw blade and it was noticeably dulled, thankfully it only costs $25 to get it resharpened

Stick with cheap thin kerf big box blades

I have a small wood cutting bandsaw that I use for wood and micarta, but G-10 and CF I cut on my metal cutting bandsaw.

g10 and Cf are very abrasive.
Carbon blades like those on a scroll saw or wood bandsaw will struggle at best and have their teeth melted off at worst.
A bi-metal blade will cut it. But knowing how a carbon blade is affected, my guess is that the bi-metal blades would cut better and last longer if only left to cut metal.

A Diamond Tile Saw is cheap. The blades last a long time, but are still very affordable, cut much quicker and cleaner.
I cut a 1" thick g10 block into 6 squares to be used for wa handle bolsters. 6 identically sized blocks with square, clean, straight edges all cut in less than a minute, 2 tops.

Fantastic value for money, I dont regret buying mine for a second.
