A girly, well-built knife

I'm looking to buy my girlfriend a knife. She's out of school now so she can start carrying one with her daily with ease.

My hopes are to find a knife that fits this description -
>$50 (This is firm, I'd prefer it to be less. I won't be going above it unless it seems really needed)
Frame/liner lock or better (no lockback or slipjoint please)
440 or "better" steel (in terms of light EDC usage), preferably higher quality
A girly design - plain blade, maybe comes in colors, no "tactical" looking knives
Easy open. Probably a thumbstud/hole, not AO or auto

I want this knife to be dependable, easy to use, durable, and safe. I want it to be something she's comfortable using in public, which is why I don't want tactical looking knives. I looked through the "flipper for my wife" thread and nothing really stood out. I breifly browsed through CRKT, Kershaw, and Spyderco knives (though Spyderco, to me, always has a tactical look to it) but didn't see too much that jumped out at me. She likes yellow a lot, but I don't know of many yellow knives other than a couple Spyderco models that are probably a bit too pricey and tactical looking.

Get her a yellow mini griptilian from Benchmade. You can get a hole opener or a stud. Its gonna go a little over $50 though.... but is that all shes worth?

Tell her Id buy her a hundred dollar knife...

The mini Grip was my first idea actually, as I just bought myself a full-sized one. Then I thought it may be kinda tacky to both carry identical knives (with different ratios).

If I don't go with color I think the Spyderco Tenacious looks kinda decent. I like the blade shape other specs. I'm not sure about thumbholes though... I've honestly never used one :o

the tenacious is a good knife, it was a little big for me for pocket carry. but i've got both the persistence and ambitious, which are the two smaller sizes of that knife, and carry them regularly. they are also coming out with blue handles here in the next couple months. might be a better size for a girl?

I like the Persistance as well, and you're probably right on that being a better size. As for the the Delica and Endura, those are both a little higher than what I'm planning on spending. The Dragonfly is kinda cute, but I think a bit too small, and I'm not sure I like the plastic pocket clip. Not that I doubt its strength, but I just don't like the way it looks.

There are SO many Spyderco fans here.. Maybe I should jump and buy myself one eventually... hahaha

Any reason on the resistance to lockbacks? I think a pink kabar Dozier would make her happy. Hell, they even sell a "his and hers" package for $30-35. One black handle, one pink.

My wife has a pink mini grip and a boker 'cruel girl'.

I guess there's not a great reason, I'm just not really a fan of them. In the past I have accidentally closed one by gripping the knife just the right way (it didn't cut me or anything, but it disengaged the lock when I didn't want it to) but I think it was more due to poor knife design than any real reason to dislike the lock itself.

Wow the Kabar Dozier and the Boker Cruel Girl are awkwardly similar. I think I like the Dozier more as it doesn't have the huge "Cruel Girl" logo on it (my girl has the innocent look, it wouldn't really suit her).

Kershaw Chive, Leek, or Scallion. I have no experience with them but they look they could work.

Spyderco Ladybug 3 maybe?
Blade is around 2" in VG10. You can probably get it around $30 - $40

If you're looking for a good yet "girly" knife, I'd say that the pink Spyderco Native is a good bet. Others before me have already agreed.

However, if your'e just looking for a small, attractive, easy to carry knife, I think you could probably look at a ton of other options. From what I see, the main restraining factor is your budget. I personally love the mini-grip, and it comes in a cool yellow color too. It's over your budget but it's a nice knife.

There's no knife that's a "girls'" knife. Different girls like different knives, and that's that.

After reading the Tenacious Bites thread I'd be wary of getting one as a gift. ;)

All kidding aside... Kershaw Skyline?

I bought my wife a pink Ka-Bar Dozier, model 4065PK. Blade length 3.0, open length 7.25, closed length 4.25, steel AUS 8A. Very light weight. $16.99.
