Hello my friends!

For so many makers around the world who have counted on their American customers' purchases to fund the pursuit of their passion for making, the import tax charged to US purchasers has been a heavy blow.

I sell the VAST majority of my work into the United States, and still could, unlike many in other countries that simply do not allow it aat this time. Even though it is possible to send my work into the US, there is an incredible amount of red tape, higher shipping expense, and even the very strong likelihood that my work may never make it to its destination at all.

I can handle the red tape- it's very time consuming, and I'd have to factor it in to my pricing, but I'm willing to do it. The higher shipping cost is charged to my customers, and I expect that many of you would be willing to absorb it. But there being a strong possibility of my work/your order going missing completely is my red line.

There was always the possibility that a shipment could go missing, but in all the years I've both shipped and received across our shared border, it's never happened to me. With all that's going on currently, I know several makers whose work has disappeared at or around the border lately.

So, for the time being, I will concentrate on improving my work on my own time, and gradually build up an inventory so that when things stabilize I will have knives and sheaths available and on hand.

To those of you out there who have reached out to have sheaths and/or knives made, I'm very, very sorry but we are going to have to put a pin in those requests for now.

My work relies on me enjoying it. I love making and designing knives and sheaths, I love dealing with people who value my work. But these tariffs are a major impediment, so much so that I'm changing my whole 'plan' going forward. Honestly, I'm not totally certain how, but one thing for certain is that I'm going to continue making and improving.

Thank you for your support, and for reading this blurb. When and if things change, I'll try to get the word out.

Peace and Love!

thanks guys, I really do try to keep it real.

in other news, I've been talking with a certain friend of mine in the US who makes some of the best knives you've ever seen or used. He has a new model coming out soon, and we've been talking about him shipping this new model with my sheath included to those who've gotten in on the preorder. I'd take payment directly, so I'd likely set up a preorder for the sheaths separately. There are a lot of moving parts to this scenario, so I'll have to do a little more digging before I get much deeper into the details...

Hang in there Lorien Lorien . All your American friends will still be here supporting your work when the Tariff & Customs stuff gets resolved and/or repealed and fades away in the rearview mirror. Your designs are too damn good to be sidelined for very long.

Wishing you all the best!

Phil

This makes great sense if you can handle the volume.
