Hi folks
My introduction thread seems to have drifted far enough as it is so I thought I should start a new thread to ask some questions.
As you might have gathered from that thread it was Jackknife's stories that really got me interested in the more traditional style of knives especially the Gentleman's pen knife & Lobster patterns , this also coincided with a shift in my view of knife sizes.
At the start of the year I was able (with the assistance of an American member on an other forum I belong to) to acquire an older and discontinued Victorinox model called the Climber Small, this was one from their 3 1/4" range.
While the difference in length compared to the standard 3 1/2" models is small I've found the reduction in the other dimensions and the scale of the tools proportional to the reduction in the length of the knife made it far more comfortable, both in the pocket and in my hand during use.
Put all this together and I have strong interest in getting one. But before I go charging off into what for me is uncharted territory I would like to do some research to learn about the different patterns, styles and history of these knives, after all that is half the isn't it?
Can anyone here recommend any good reference resources specifically for these knives or at least a good subsection of a more generalised resource?
I'm sorry if this post is little bit rambling and disjointed but I've been working some odd hours lately and my brain is feeling a little bit frazzled.
