Out for a short hike along the Willamette River floodplain, maiden outing for the new-to-me BKT Reinhardt Kukri.

Loaded up.

Some of the area is pretty open with mostly Oregon White Ash, and pretty dry for this time of the year.

Glamour shot with friends and a downed Black Cottonwood.

My modified first gen Spyderco Manix is probably my most common pocket carry, but since when I wear waders I can't reach it, I carry the Fallkniven WM1 tucked into my chest pack (man-bra).

My old modified first gen Leatherman Wave usually lives in this old Buck sheath on my lumbar pack (man-purse).

I usually have some kind of larger blade on the pack or bag for clearing trails or roads of downed wood or brush.

I often tuck a Silky Pocket Boy in the bag, but left it in the truck today.

Not bad for 30seconds of cutting, although it is cottonwood...

Little buddy from a pond. (male rough-skinned newt).

Interesting shape the rodents chewed this elk rib-bone into.

Another rodent chewed bone, probably a back-tailed tibia

Ok, it isn't a python, but this red-spotted garter loves the swamps. Lot's of food (loves those newts!).

My route back, elk trail, is a bit more overgrown.
IMG_2560 by ursidae8, on Flickr

Made short work of the ash saplings.
IMG_2561 by ursidae8, on Flickr

And the red osier dogwoods.
IMG_2564 by ursidae8, on Flickr

And scoffed at the old growth Himalayan blackberries.

Lots of dusky-footed woodrat nests out here.

And it isn't a good day if you don't loose at least a little blood.

Swamp Thing gives this blade a thumbs up!

Enjoy.

We really Need more BK-21 threads!
It has always been on my mind, not sure when I should buy one?
With you holding it, it give a good perspective on it's size. It doesn't look too unwheeleding at all.
With a that famous handle, I bet it feels great!
Thanks for the journey, it's great to see All that wildlife... as a kid I lived in the puddles catching frogs, snakes, everything.....
Cant wait for warmer weather here...haha

You are very welcome!

Crag, it is surprisingly light in the hand, and on the pack.
I am still getting into how it works, as it moves slightly different than my other kukri-like blades, etc.
I will have to pick up one of the newer 21s and see how it feels, one of these days.

It is the perfect type of tool for my kind of needs, so I am looking forward to carrying it for this year.

Hope to share more shots if it in the bush.

Yea, I struggled for a few seconds about using or not...
Like I said, a few seconds.

Now, you all you have unused ones, they just went up a little more in value. See, I am such a nice guy.;)
Hell yes, these things were meant to be used.
