Hello all! I just registered here as a newcomer and have been collecting and using knives for everyday use and when fishing & hunting since I was a young lad. I have also back in the 90,s worked as a seller in a gun store. My particular interest are in german knives suck as Puma-Werk. American knives, Case old Schrade and Cripple Creep has also been in my possession.

I found this knife in my drawer and it has been there for a long time. I have never examined it more thorough but now I have! My initial feeling when i bought at an auction was some cheap, low quality knife. I now realize it's really old an I found some information about the Barnsley Bros company. However pictures of Barnsley knives or similar knives are rare.

I hope someone have some more information, maybe some pictures. The knife must be more than 100 years old. It is really exciting to now more about this knife.
For me it is an american classic knife and it is quite big, measuring unfolded, 7.9 in (20cm) folded 4.5in (11.5cm)

JC I can't help you with your knife but did want to say welcome to Blade Forums were very glad to have you here.

Welcome to Bladeforums :) That's a really nice old knife, it might be worth you also posting a pic or two in the 'Old Knives' sticky at the top of the page

I'm sorry, I don't have any information to offer on your knife, other than I like it! Great old piece.

Welcome! Has a kind of barlow look to it to me,--KV

Both are jacks. I think the book definition of the OP's knife is either a "regular jack" or possibly a "slim jack". Most barlows are regular jacks with a big bolster (some are curved jacks).

Thank's all for yours replies. As "Barlow" was mentioned and the Barnsley knife is not of that kind, I take the opportunity to show my beautiful Cripple Creek...

Welcome aboard.
As Lambertiana posted The Barnsley Bros listed 1898-1906 Manufacturer and Wholseller. I'd call barehead jack or regular jack.
The CC Barlow is fantastic.

Very cool bit of history. This isn't to far from where I live. Never knew this place existed. It's a fairly small town even now. Thanks for posting!

I lived in Monett for 8 years in the 90s. I knew the history but never could see anything to indicate the factory. I did manage to buy a razor that had been made there.

Interesting seeing the long pull on the Pen Blade. As if joined just up from tang and looks to change direction on the " join" - it could be just the Photo possibly.
Nice seeing old not- often - seen makers come up.

Be interesting seeing this Knife Posted in Bernard's Forum.
