Hello Porch :)

Share photos of your traditional knives "out in nature" while you enjoy your favorite outdoor activities ( walking, hiking, fishing, hunting, boating, bicycling, camping etc. )

Overlooking the Potomac. Not the greatest shot, but this was the first time I deliberately staged a photo with the intent of posting it here.
And to answer your question: walking, bicycling, and some camping these days. I did tons of hiking, boating, and fishing in my youth, but not anymore. I never was a hunter, though I did a lot of shooting.

I enjoy hiking, fishing and generally being outdoors; I used to camp a lot, too, but it’s been a few years now. Here are some outdoor/nature shots (most of which I’ve shared here before in one thread or another).

(Continued in the next post; too many pictures.)

One of my favorite places to walk near where we live is the Dakota Rail Trail. It’s built on an old railroad bed and runs 28 miles from Wayzata to Lester Prairie. The trail is paved, so it’s hardly roughing it, but parts of it (particularly when you get west of Mound) are quite secluded and scenic.

I always enjoy seeing your pictures Dan. I enjoy camping, fishing, and being around the water in general.

One of my favorite places is the beach at Fort Story. Can always watch ships coming and going there.

Good morning Porch !
Such pleasant surprise this morning to see the beautiful images posted and take a virtual trip around the the world :)
Cool contrast between the seasons on the same spots too.

Walking the trails close to home with my family is what I enjoy the most.

Any story behind "The Porch Pearl" ?

Thanks, Dan. That photo of the bridge in two different seasons happened by chance; I didn’t realize until later that I had two almost identical photos of the same spot! (The top one was taken in late winter/early spring last year, and the other in late summer the year before that.)

I’ve walked certain sections of that trail many times now, but a couple years ago Eleanor and I did the whole thing (technically twice, since we always had to double back) over a couple weeks.

There’s a whole thread! Definitely worth a look.
