I done done a search and have read a lot in GLUE WARS, Does any one use the fiberglas floc that comes with the acraglas, I am asking because it seems so runny .. thanks

Just started using this stuff myself. I don't use the floc. Don't worry about the runny. It actually helps with narrow tangs, no worry about a weep hole :( ( never like those anyway)

Acra-glas is all I use and I never use the floc. Del is right, it works great for hidden tangs. If you want it thicker just let it set a few minutes after mixing.

All I can say is dito. I use it and its great stuff never had a problem.I use it on hidden and full tangs ,also never used the floc...steve

If you need to thicken acraglass, you can use cabosil. it can be used th thicken most polyester resins as well as quite a few epoxy based resins. I have used thiss in the past and it works quite well. Even thickening to near toothpaste thickness.

I have used only Acra-glas for years. I have never had a handle let go. When assembleing a handle I use super glue to assemble the pieces. This seals the seams between the pieces (ie) guard to ferrel to handle. Also Acra -glas can be purchased in a jell if you want it thicker.

thanks for the reply, reading the glue wars 2, the acraglas gel failed, thats why I switched to the regular acraglas, but it is a pain to mix for small amounts so today I orderred the Loctite e 120 hp.Hope it works out.

when you buy acra glass...get acra glass gel..it is much easier to work with...and I never have used the floc...but I do guns...just started on knives

how did it fail...I would guess the person mixed it wrong....I have used acra glass for many non standard or listed repairs on all kinds of house hold items and types of materials....

If you get 12cc syringes with .2cc graduations you can mix like 1cc at a time although 2cc is a little easier to work with and mix.
I have tried the gel and didn't like the way it worked on knives. If you choose to use the flocking you need to have everything ready to go. the only time that I treid to use the flock my acra-glass set up like super glue with accelerator smoke and all.

I usually mix 5/8 oz and this is enough to do 3 full tang knives with just a bit left over. I think it would be enough for 2 narrow tang knives if your hole in the handle is not overlarge.
