Adding a Velcro patch to a backpack

Hiya. I just picked up a Deuter 45+ guide and I'd like to add a Velcro tab to the pack lid for morale patches. Similar to what you see on Maxpedition and other packs for interchangeable patches, unit identifiers etc. I don't want to sew on the Velcro (might compromise water resistance). What are my options for attaching it? I understand there is a "no-sew" glue for putting patches on. Would this work for sticking a bit of Velcro on? Its not load bearing, just holding a cool badge/patch. Any other suggestions?

thanks

Sewing it on is the best way. If you're worried about compromising the water resistance then put a little seam sealer on the backside of the thread.

you could try some gorilla glue or contact cement, but i would recommend just going to a dry cleaner or leather worker and have them sew one on for a few dollars.

You can buy velcro with an adhesive backing, but in my experience it won't last well on fabric, and then when you try to sew it on properly the adhesive gums up your needle and thread. Better to just sew it in the first place.
