Adding pocket clip to Gerber Gator II?

Ok, I have lurked around enough to know that most people think Gerber sucks. :barf:

Fair enough. However, I already have it. I am using this knife for a river knife(kayaking/rafting/fishing), and it stands a chance of being lost on any given trip. The grip fits me perfectly, and the tacky rubber with finger grooves makes it, for me at least, extremely slip resistant. The problem is that I’d like to be able to clip it, sans sheath, to either my life vest or my fishing vest.

Any suggestions for a fairly easy way to add a pocket clip?
 
I think adding a pocket clip would be a challenge with the thick rubber scales, what about adding a lanyard with a swivel clip? It'd keep it from being lost to the water, just might not keep it as close to the vest as a clip, and it'd be a ton easier.
