Does anyone have any info or opinions here on the AFO II? I have always really really wanted an auto, and this knife I find to be one of the baddest looking ones BM has to offer. and Its not to hard of a price point. Thanks to anyone with anything to say!

I have been edcing my afo II for about 2.5 yrs. it's also my duty carry knife. I've had no issues with it at all. It is heavy, but never bothered me. The handle has scratches and rub marks, but they add character. It's aluminum so marks easily. Fits well in my hand and is very comfortable. Hope this helps. As a side note, I did handle a 5000 and the auto axis is smooth

this does help thank you, and thanks for the first post! These knives look killer and every time I see the BM catalog I look at this guy. I find my Adamas a bit big, and my Grip a bit small. this seems right in between. I'm actually glad you say its heavy, that's what I like about some knives over others. I like holding a 'tool' in my hand, so its good when it feels like one.

I've got one. I accidentally dremeled into the side of it, and it has a big gash in the handle, but I still love it, and carry it a lot. It's just a BA knife. It's cool looking, it'll impress ur friends, it's an outstanding tactical and edc knife. Real high blade grind and great chili and thumb ramp. And jimping that actually works. One of my favorites from benchmade.

Now coated or uncoated drop point... hehe
thanks for the reply!

Why a coated Tanto blade of course.

Only question left is Plain or CE? That you will have to decide for yourself based on your needs and actual usage.

Best of luck though!

thanks for the replies guys, this knife really does seem to be all that it looks. I think the price is great, and that lock strength! I just wish I could find one hit the button on, just to see how I like it. Ive never handled a push button auto, only an axis auto once. But, no matter howmuch I want it now... Im going to sit on it a few days... the allure is so intense I need to make sure I really want it...

Well, for what it's worth I'll offer this.

I had one very briefly, as I bought it with the intent of gifting it to a friend. I did however have the opportunity to "play" with it a bit and give it a through once over. I was very impressed to say the least. Solid build and feel and the blade design is very practical and well thought out. I got the impression this was a knife I could count on and suited for hard use. But I have to stress, that's first impressions without having ever cut or used it so take my impression for what it's worth.

In general I'm not a big auto fan for reasons that are irrelevant here but I will say, based on having handled it and having only heard good thing's about it, not only on BFC but others in service who have one, if I was going to buy a push button auto the AFO II would be it.

The test video really surprised me in how strong the locking mechanism really is. Normally a weak point on auto knives. Not the AFO II. It's a beast of a knife in terms of strength. Really doesn't get any better then that in terms of a complete package. Good premium steel, a practical well thought out blade design, a very strong dependable locking and release mechanism, and I personally really liked the feel or ergo's as they would say.

Don't think you can go wrong getting one. It's been years since I gifted the one to my friend but he still thanks me for it from time to time when we speak years later because of how happy he is with it.

Hope this helps and like I said best of luck!

Thanks for all the input pbcg, much appreciated, what blade style did you purchase?and what did you think of it? the tanto looks cool, but it always seems to lose flavor for me over time. though I've never had a BM tanto blade.

Hey 241, I got one coming for the same uses that you use yours. I'm glad you like it.....Which means I probably will too. How is the glass breaker?

The Black coated Tanto version is the one I purchased

I carried a 910 Stryker (tanto) version for years and never once felt I was ill equipped as far as my cutting needs that varied greatly. So I would say it served me very well.

I found the Tanto design to be extremely versatile. I also like the acute point or tip it offers.

That said I'm not going to advocate for it one way or the other. I like a well executed drop point just as much and most of my knives are drop point blades. I like them both.

My all time favorite blade design is the Reverse Tanto as offered on the Rift and Contego and second would be the modified Warncliff like on the Hogue EX-04.

Buy what you like and speaks to you. Of course consider your cutting needs, but a quality knife is a quality knife and You really can't go wrong with whatever blade design you choose.

Great heavy duty knife in Auto.

Very impressed with the fit, finish and function of the product.

Purchased several for my automobiles primarily for the "Glass breaker"

Happy with the quality.

I have an AFO II drop point, 1/2 serrated, black coating, it works great has been put up in my safe for about 4 years. I never carried it just traded it from a friend of mine so no box, but I did sharpen it on my Wicked Edge sharpener. I am up for a good trade if anyone is interested Im looking for a Bark River Golok or a really sweet Bark River Gunny. I may consider other trades on equal value knives.
Thanks Chris
