Recommendation? Alternate ways to carry a Buck 110?

Hey all. I have carried a Buck 110 since I was 13 and have recently (9 months ago) added a pocket clip to one of the bolsters. I very much prefer this as I'm 17 and can't really walk around with a big leather sheath on my belt all the time. The pocket clip I used is the generic one with 3 screws you see on the Loscha 110. I'm always trying to mess around with these things and improve them so I'm just wondering if any of you have had luck using any other means than the belt sheath to carry such a large knife. Do "pocket sheaths" work? What about deep carry pocket clips? Pocket sheaths? Please let me know!

A nylon sheath carried in the horizontal position would be less obtrusive than it or a leath sheath carried vertically. In fact, depending on the color of your belt and trousers a black nylon sheath could just about disappear.

That is true! I wonder if carrying the nylon sheath in the back pocket like a wallet would be practical/secure and not fall over in my pocket like the knife alone (without the clip) always tends to do.

I have actually considered making a leather/kydex sheath that would fit in my back pocket like an insert, while being wide enough that it wouldn't fall over horizontal. At that point I'm just worried about the knife falling out I guess.

One of our members posted a photo, can't remember who at the moment but he had someone sew a row of stitching on his jeans pocket an inch or so from the edge so it more or less divided the pocket into two. The smaller pocket held his 110 vertical so it didn't fall over in the pocket and he didn't need a clip either.

A sewing machine would make it fast and easy but I bet you could hand stitch it in just a few minutes if we could find the picture.

I carry one in my front pocket with the lanyard hanging out the top. It stays upright most of the time and I don’t have to worry about a pocket clip scratching furniture or anything else.

Here’s a few I’ve done.

MT_Pokt MT_Pokt Those look awesome! I didn't even think about a lanyard but it seems very practical. Plus it looks good.

Yes I have seen the picture you're talking about. Again I would be a bit worried about it falling out, and I would prefer not to have to stitch all my pant pockets, particularly the nicer/more expensive ones. BUT this seems like the easiest solution to my problem with the minimal amount of work

ALSO, I want to say thank you to everyone who has replied so far. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated. And thank you for not saying "It's a Buck 110, it's MEANT to be carried in a sheath" "Sheath or nothing" "pocket clips are a disgrace to this American icon" "get a different, lighter knife", ETC. Haha

Or you can really go "alternative" with a neck rig. :)

Not as uncomfortable as it looks, and I think it would be even better with an aluminum bolstered 110 from C&C.

Personal choice,I have one that I like but I've never carried a Buck 110 in it.
KSF has one with a magnetised flap that holds it in place, works well for other knives.
but the 110 may be a bit large for it.

Just curious why you can't Carry a 110 around on your hip ?
I got mine when I was 18 which I carried proudly on my hip without issue.
Being as small as I was with no ID yet I might as well have been a 14 year old.
If there are no laws against you carrying a knife than I wouldn't worry.

Now if you can find a good alternative to comfortably and effectively carry your 110 then more power to you.

I can, I just want to find a better way to carry it. I, being 17, tend to put a lot of effort into choosing my clothes and outfits, trying to be fashion-conscious and all that. The bulky sheath it comes with certainly isn't the most stylish thing, particularly when paired with the more trendy, "fitted" clothing styles. Doing yard work or clearing trails in the woods, the leather sheath is perfect. Going out with friends with a big leather sheath hanging off my belt, not quite! Haha

I ended up getting a slim wallet (Secrid) which was both smaller and boxier to slip my knife next to in my back pocket. The traditional wallet would sometimes work if I placed the opening towards the knife to sort of secure it in place.

If you like really baggy/loose pants, it probably won't stay straight with activity. For proper fit, straight-legged pants I don't have a problem. However, I usually carry the 112, and the aluminum 110 rides even better with that setup. This setup works well with pocket clip knives too.
