One of my small Sebs is missing the lanyard. The pin has been removed. Is anyone using a non-CRK lanyard setup? I'm looking for alternate ideas with or without the pin. Thanks!

So put the pin back in! :)

Just google lanyard, paracord, lanyard beads and enjoy a couple of evenings of craftiness. ;)

I don't really care for lanyards on folders nor beads but the previous owner put this one on and was kind enough to leave it on when we traded. I must say that I've come to dig it.

I've never tried but you could probably fit paracord through the lanyard hole while the bead is out. May have to gut it first though.

I don't have a CRK handy right now to try, but if you can sneak a paracord through, I'd recommend using a diamond knot, either a short stubby just for drawing the knife out, or as this one I have a diamond knot near the knife and one further out to end the loop. Also you can see I used some heavier thread, you could also use a strand from the paracord if you didn't have thread handy, to 'whip' the two cords together, this way the paracord won't slip around into the path of the blade, but will stay to the back of the handle.

That's a good looking lanyard Gary! Your photography skills are definitely some of my favorites,..not to mention, you sold me the first knife I bought off of Bladeforums so many years ago!

You can buy replacement pins/lanyards directly from CRK. They start @ $6.95 iirc. I have a few extras, but they're all for the large.

I've had regular sebenzas with no pins. Lanyards were just attached right through the lanyard pin hole, i believe that's how the regs all were. Not sure if 550 paracord would fit, may have to use 440.

Thanks Bill, ya never forget your first ;)

And I think I'll make a tutorial on how I do these lanyards some time, might help others to be able to make them too.

Thanks for all the info, pics and links. Gary's lanyard really speaks to me as well!

I always use a lanyard and never use the pin. I prefer to just use the hole the pins came out of.

The diamond knot is a staple on almost every lanyard I have ever made. I find it really helps wiht indexing but its not obtrusive.

This one is pretty big, but I liked it during the winter because I could always find mhy knife quickly under my coveralls even with gloves on (I work out in the field quite a bit)

I have one or two of these...Fantastic lanyards!

Thanks again :)

Some cool ideas, thanks! Never thought using shrink wrap either, great option. Also like the idea of leather...decisions, decisions.
