Alternative Tomahawk Head Mounting

Would it cause any issues to mount my tomahawk head similar to a regular axe with a wedge? I know the advantages of having the head to be removable but to be able to fit through the eye the handle has to be too thin and I really don’t want to wrap it. If I mount it like an axe, I have more freedom on handle design but I was worried about the way that the eye of a tomahawk is made that it might not hold securely or come lose since it tapers. Probably a stupid question but I just don’t want to risk any injuries.

What do you want the hawk to do? (sounds stupid but it's better to make sure what you want it to do?)

With the taper and generous width on the other end, more uses (more throwing) will make the eye eventually interferes into the half.

That way i rather get a full tang hawk.
