Was wandering around the web and happened upon the American Kami Riot Spear and thought it might be a nice addition to blades and things. :D Wanted to get peoples opinion on it and the AAOW. Both run approximately 450 each. Anyone own one and can give their opinion on either? Thanks

I have several American Kami knives but I do not own any of the above mentioned models. I would love to have one of the short swords or spear variants but I always seem to miss out on them when one is available. They look pretty awesome although a dual ground version instead of the typical one sided chisel grind would be excellent.

Either way I would like to own both of those models from DJ.

I assume the knives are made of the same steel. How hard are they to sharpen? Cutting quality etc?

I traded emails with DJ inquiring on the Riot Spear and he stated he was in mid process of producing a few more for TAD Gear so I'm going to keep an eye out on their site for their return. :D

I believe he uses 1095 carbon steel on almost all if not all of his blades. 1095 is a good steel for knives and this type of blade. Sharpening is tricky when you don't know how to sharpen a chisel ground type blade.

We can just pay Burchtree up there to sharpen them for us!!! Speaking of short swords and Burch. We need to see a wakizashi from him. For now he is making some sweet Dao folders.

YOU CAN DO IT ----BURCH!

Just keep making those Dao, Chop Suey, and Swoop folders for now!!!

I need to add to my USN avatar in 2008
