At first glance, just another horticultural knife!! But the design and workmanship are astounding!! Pure Form and Function, and a delight in the hand!!!
It is rare to see such sculptural perfection in a working knife!!!!! 😲

Note the great overall shape of the closed knife!! Subtle curve and taper, with fully rounded ends!!! The blades lay in perfect juxtaposition, and are also nicely shaped!!
The overall length of the knife is neatly stamped into the secondary, along with the model number!! The Left-handed Hugo Koller did an outstanding job on this useful knife!!!
It feels perfect in hand and in the pocket!!!😁

What is the history of Hugo Koller knives?

Hugo Köller, Solingen | Lakesidetrader

The Hugo Köller Stahlwarenfabrik company began in 1861. It registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce on September 25, 1894. The eagle clasping a straight razor and a table knife in its talons trademark was registered on July 24, 1895.

A more detailed story:
"The Hugo Köller Stahlwarenfabrik company began in 1861. It registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce on September 25, 1894. The eagle clasping a straight razor and a table knife in its talons trademark was registered on July 24, 1895. Köller manufactured: cutlery, kitchen knives, hardware, pocket knives, straight razors and scissors. In 1900, Hugo and Walter Köller were listed as owners. Rudolf Köller succeeded Hugo by 1914 and remained as one of the owners until 1930. During WWI, the company manufactured close-combat knives. Walter Köller was then the sole owner from 1930-1939. The company was located on Grünewalder Straße 28 in 1932 and remained there until 1999. During the Third Reich era, Köller manufactured: SA/NSKK daggers, dress bayonets and Hitler Youth knives. By the 1940s the company was marketing: gardening tools, scissors, razors and pocket knives. Later, the company added good-quality viticulture and forestry tools to their offering.* By 1989, Köller was purchased by the Hindrichs family. On November 1, 1991, the family also acquired the "Puma-Werk" (Lauterjung & Sohn) company. In 1979, Puma took over Hugo Köller's factory on Grünewalder Straße 28 in 1995. In 1998, Hugo Köller and Puma moved to An den Eichen 20-22, the premises of "Cuno Melcher" (part of the same group). Puma knives continue to be manufactured at that location."

*Looks like my knife is post-war!!

Another unique knife in your collection, congrats, Charlie!
How does the ivory spud's tang stand against steel spring? Or is it a friction "blade"?

Charlie, as you’ve said at first glance it’s just a simple knife. No bells or whistles but every detail has been carefully thought out. So simple and clean which can be very challenging to achieve while also looking good especially while closed. The blades close perfectly together to access the nail nicks, the tang run up’s are nicely hidden in the rounded ends for pocket comfort and the closed silhouette shape is streamlined and uniform with nothing protruding. Like a pebble in the pocket I bet.
