stanley white and I have been discussing a compromise of two designs to come up with one knife. Best of both worlds so to speak. He liked the size of the Deer Creek and the blade design of the UNK. He came up with the handle shape of the Deer Creek and the blade shape of the UNK.

I call it the CFK or Compromise Field Knife.

It has the UNK-style blade to excel at gutting, skinning, and butchering.

The blade is tall, thick, and long enough to excel at bushcraft tasks.

4.25" Blade with a 4" cutting edge.

4.5" handle with an additional 3/8" exposed tang.

3/16" thick and 1.5" tall.

Mine will by S-7 steel.

I start off with 1 1/2" stock. The blade tapers to 1" wide at the very end of the blade near the point. From plunge line/bottom of edge to to spine is just under 1 1/2". It then tapers as you go toward the point. Width and mass at the beginning of the cutting edge then tapers for good point control.

Great idea, what an obvious combo! Stanley, great catch. I am excited to see the final blade.

I loved the UNK blade shape and the grind on mine was just about as perfect a person can make them but the handle was always a bit too blocky for my taste. Can't wait to see a different handle on it.
