Another movie knife question - "Escanaba in da Moonlight"

Has anyone seen this movie? It's an independent film by Jeff Daniels (Jim Carey's other half in Dumb & Dumber) that was adapted from a play. I just saw it last night and it's a killer, especially if you've ever been involved in the tradition that is deer hunting. It's sort of a "Fargo" meets "The Deer Hunter" meets " The X-Files."

Anyway, in the movie one of the characters carries a sheath knife that gets pretty wide use in the film. It looked sort of like the Marbles Pilot Survival Knife with a stag handle and aluminum pommel. Marbles would be an appropriate knife to use, since the movie takes place "just nort a' da bridge" at the Soady deer camp outside of Escanaba, MI. The movie was filmed in Escanaba and the surrounding area and uses lots of local suppliers, according to the credits. Plus, I've heard Daniels himself is from the U.P.

I think the film is in limited release, so it may be hard to find. But if you get a chance, go see it. It's another good example of a knife being used for what it's designed for -- you know, opening cans, hammering things with the pommel, protection against evil spirts, etc.

Daniels actually is from (and still lives in) Chelsea, MI, which is about 30-40 miles west of Detroit. Nice guy.

Brothers of Steel,
Go to: www.imdb.com for a review.

Haven't seen it yet. (Some releases just die a quick and miserable death or don't make it out of the local market.) Mr. Daniels is equally funny and serious. A good breed of actor. Not seen enough, though!)
