In the BCCI May 2001 issue there's an article about the early barrel nut knives beginning in 1961 after Buck incorporated. The first version sheath is described as having a line of stitching on the back running perpendicular to the sheath sides.

Does anyone have a photo of this first style sheath, I'd like to see one for reference.

Thanks.

Pilgrim, here you go. This is Buck advertisements, showing melamine handled knives, then the 210 twin set w/ a 110 skinner and the Congress St. address. Plus, a model 101 SiC stone. All of this points to early 1961. In it are photos of those sheaths. The stitching you inquire about is on their backs. Merely a straight line on the belt loop. DM

So the stitching on the back is simply a horizontal stitch across the belt loop. That’s easy enough. Got to be very scarce.

Yes, that stitch the author is writing about is right above the pouch the knife drops into. On the photo of my sheath it didn't have that. Other
wise it is the same sheath. So, Buck made some slight changes on the sheath from 1961 to 62. DM
