OZF S01 | Osoraku Zukuri Folder Spectral Series 3.5”

Retail: $395

Other than a few 30-second vids on YouTube, haven’t found much written about this new framelock/ flipper. Supposedly the first CF Integral, which is a collaboration between Williams Blade Design, Lionsteel, and FatCarbon.

I’d be curious to find out a bit more so am posting here. (This knife is currently “Sold Out” at Battle-Merchant, Lamnia, and Knife Center. But still available at Blade HQ.)

LionSteel is well versed in integrals even in carbon fiber.... Their TM 1 was nicely done! It was a back lock as opposed to a frame lock like this one.... Can't imagine anything less from them.....

Will check out the TM 1. Thanks. Incidentally just bought the OZF S01, so I’ll try to post something afterwards for anyone interested.

They also made the TM in micarta integral too....I think they both came out about 10 years ago.. Not 100% but its definitely been a while

One of the smoothest backlocks I own, and Lionsteel's Sleipner is no slouch either. Man, I need to carry that again, guess I'm tracking that down tonight!

Thanks a lot you enabling bastards.
Never even heard about this blade and needed another knife like I need another ear……..just ordered it.
I need a f*cking meeting.

Careful what you wish for!!!!! A long time ago early in sobriety I said the same thing and low and behold my company was working on A church..... There was a sign it said 12 step meeting inside...... I couldn't believe it.. How lucky!!! So I'm sitting there half listening, half daydreaming hearing my addiction cost me thjs, my addiction cost me that.......Took about 20 minutes before I figured out I was in a sexaholics meeting😜
Unbelievable!!! I went outside and called my sponsor.... He laughed and said go back in you might get lucky and catch a.relapse!!!! Funny as hell... He was kidding but still made for an interesting qualification once I hit 90 days!! Been at least 2 decades since I thought of that....

I bet both of us have a few very interesting stories to tell my friend!!!

I just received the new OZF S01. I bought mine at Blade HQ. I did a text review at the store site where I gave it 4 stars even though I noted some issues with it. It seems to me (at least with my example) that they didn't focus their efforts as much on the final QC for the blade. The handle is perfect though, and being a lover of the Williams Osoraku Zukuri interpretation; I had to get this. Overall, I like it, and there were only 400 made for this run. I'll more than likely buy the bigger one that they are talking about doing for the next run.

I really liked mine, but it also took a bit of effort to deploy the blade. I've had their previous folders and they were much faster and smoother out of the box. I sent it back to have them investigate if the knife was defective. Stay tuned!

Got one yesterday………going back Monday.
Shame, it’s a cool knife with a great blade shape, but it has almost no detente at all.
Worst flipper I have handled.

Just a quick blade trivia comment.
Osoraku Zukuri (Osoraku style construction) is a blade style found in some Tantos
where the Kissaki length is half or greater than the entire blade length.
In some Tantos you can see the Yokote in the middle of the blade.
This style is named after a Tanto made by Sunshu Sukemune. a Muromachi period swordsmith (around 1444 AD)
who simply signed "Osoraku" on the tang.

Ok I just received my replacement and it's a night a day difference. The action on mine is MUCH smoother so I believe the one I sent back was defective. The detent is smooth yet snappy and it doesn't take much effort to deploy. I did take the knife apart and the hardware is pretty fool proof so I suspect it was the one-piece frame itself that was defective. Keep in mind that this is a first gen product so expect imperfections. I would encourage guys that got defective ones to get replacements because this is a very special knife with a first of it's kind, full carbon integral frame. It weights just a little over 2 oz for crying out loud!

I'm going to spend more time with it this week then probably do a table top review.

Was the pivot done up with Loctite? On mine, there is a gritty resistance, kind of like a clamped or binding feeling. This is especially true when I'm closing it.

When I took the defective one apart, I remember some sort of white lube, but not sure if it was loctite. The pivot screw has a very shallow/short level of adjustment so it shouldn't be hard to get the tension just right. Mine had resistance out of the box similar to what you described (even with the pivot screw removed) and my only conclusion was a defective frame since it's a one piece. My replacement is very easy to deploy, no binding what so ever. I would recommend you get a replacement either from BladeHQ or Williams directly.

Mine was defective, and immediately returned to BladeHQ. The framelock was too short, and insert didn't lock the blade.
After returning the defective one, I couldn't get this knife out of my head. I ordered another one from BladeHQ and requested that they hand inspect it prior to shipping, which they did. The knife is perfect! What a beauty. I will be carrying it with pleasure.
