Any clever solutions for carrying loose change?

Its handy to have coins with you for parking machines, newspapers, vending machines and the like, but change is either loose in my pocket (and falling out when I sit down) or its padding out the coin section of my wallet so the whole thing is a mile thick.

How do you guys carry your loose change comfortably?

I use the change to buy a knife. :) I know that was a smartass comment with zero value added, but at least it'll bump the thread...

My local bank gave me a small vinyl zip bag, like the full size bank bag used by businesses, but about 2 1/2 x 4 1/2". When it gets too full, I sort it out at home and either cash in the extra coins, or stash them for lean times. Most times I keep it in my car or truck console and deposit change in it when I come out of a store. If I am low on cash, I spend out of it. It holds better than $20 in quarters when full, more if full of dimes.

I used to have the same problem, then some smarty pants on some forum answered a similar question by saying "change is for chumps" and said how he just puts his change, when he gets it, in his car ashtray. I started doing that, plus I keep a roll of quarters in the car for parking, newspapers, etc. because I am usually in my car anyway when I need change. It has really worked for me, as I found that I generally pay for things with a debit card and rarely do I find myself needing change when I'm just out walking around. When I do pay cash, and get change back, it goes into the ashtray or center console of the car straight away.

Old school but it works.

Chawly Changer will do the job nicely if you only need just the right amount. If you just need to hold miscellaneous coins, you can go medieval and carry around a leather pouch.

Thanks for the ideas

They remind me of the pound coin carriers that I used to see in the shops as a kid. A 2" spring loaded tube that dispenses £1 coins. Wonder if the still make them

Hilarious! I've seen the leather style ones but not scrotum ones!

Sounds like the vegan version of the kangaroo scrotum :)

Not a bad idea, just have to remember to close the ashtray or someone will smash the window for the cash

I have a leather coin holder that is round and closes using several overlapping folds of leather.

I have one of those, a gift from a mate in Australia. It came complete with a story about how he chased down a roo and used his Schrade knife to....

But I don't carry it as a coin purse (murse). Nor do I wear it as a nutsack cozy as my mate suggested. It is enough to just think of him everytime I see it. "Tie me kangaroo down boys, tie me kangaroo down..."! :p

Post #1081 in the edc thread has a little dispenser with what looks like a a spring loaded slot for 4 types of coins. He gives the name of it but i searched around for a bit and couldn't find anything like it, maybe you could pm him and ask where he got it.

+1 for the Chawly Changer. Carry one everyday.

EDIT: Just realized you're in the UK, so this won't work. Sorry...:o
