Any Concerns as to authenticity of this Zero Tolerance 0550?

Hi. I just bought a used Zero Tolerance 0550 and thought I'd run it by the experts to see if there is any concern as to whether or not it is legitimate.

I'm a bit paranoid by nature I guess when it comes to spending a lot of money on something used. My biggest "concern" with this particular knife is that the steel stamping is very faded. It can be made out in the right lighting but I haven't seen any pictures of ZT knives where the stamping wasn't very clear.

Other than that, the knife seems well built and solid. No blade play and locks up solidly. A bit hard to open with the thumb stud....

Please share your thoughts. I am a novice noob when it comes to knives.

Thanks,

Rick

Looks right to me except that someone polished the blade to a more mirror finish than the standard matte....That probably dulled the markings in the process I would guess.

The biggest factor in determining if a knife is fake is where you got it. That said, looks legit to me. Like was said, blade was polished which explains the faded steel marking.

The 0550 is my fave ZT. I really wish they'd make more non-flippers like it.

I agree with the above observations. It shall serve you well.

I agree. However, I wonder how often fakes appear in the Exchange here. Has anyone ever run into it? I am not here long enough, thus the question.

You're on a forum populated by dudes who pride themselves on paying attention to every microscopic detail that makes a knife awesome. We don't get burned by fakes very often.

Still, every now and then fakes do pop up but usually from dudes saying "Oh I got this awesome deal off a Chinese site!" or "You won't believe how cheap Amazon is blowing these out!"

Stick to reputable dealers. Do your homework. Check the feedback. You'll be ok.

I don't own any ZT's but yeah, blade looks a little polished but nice knife man!

I keep seeing threads where people buy a knife, and then ask if it's a fake.

My advice is- before you buy it, get good pictures of the knife from the seller, start a thread and post the pictures here, and then ask if people think it's real or fake.

Investigate first, then buy (if it's a legitimate knife). Better to risk missing out on a knife because you took the time to investigate it rather than risk losing hundreds of dollars on a fake that you probably can't return to the seller.

And as Craytab alluded to- only by from reputable retailers and sellers. If you're thinking of buying from an individual, even one on this forum, investigate their background and sales history.

Yes, do your homework. That said any reputable seller when combined with a reputable form of payment will let you get your money back. However to avoid the headache, do the research first!

If you bought it as new, I would be concerned, but if you bought it second hand, looks like the previous owner polished the blade and convexed the edge.
