Well as you may have seen from my last topic I had trouble getting the burner to work, well I got it to work but it's not as good as I thought. Are there any good burners for under $75 that I can get as a suitable replacement? Or should I just modify the one that I have now.

Considering your current problems, a manufactured burner may be your best choice.

Ron Reil makes good burners, and High Temp Tools and Refractory hightemptools.com makes finished and kit burners. I recommend them.

I would suggest you go with a blown burner, as it will be much easier to regulate the heat with. IIRC, you want to do HT in this forge, too. Later on you can add a PID control to the blown burner and regulate the forge to a close temperature control.

I would recommend a sidearm burner kit from Zoeller forge. I've dealt with Larry in the past and his burner stuff is good. The kit is $50. Or you could go with a z-burner from him for $75.

Stacy may be right about a blown forge ultimately being more powerful and adjustable, and it is true that they are pretty easy to make... but the sidearm burner kit is dirt simple too.

I have 2 of the Z-burners,they work really well out of the box.Just mount in forge connect the gas and fire it up.

Thanks for the replies I will defiantly keep them in mind when I make my next forge. I basically rebuilt mine and now it can operate I a higher PSI and with a lot of different "variables" for lack of a better word. Eventually I would like to build a double burner sword forge but that won't be for a little while. Thanks again for the input.
