Greetings gentlemen. I'll be travelling to Charlotte this weekend and don't know the town worth squat. I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of any good cutlery shops in the fine city? How about the C&E Gun Show; is it in Charlotte this weekend, and where in Charlotte if so? Thanks so much for the responses. Professor.

Prof - the Charlotte C&E show is on April 8-9. A bunch of NC forumites always meets at this show and we always have a good time! As far as cutlery shops go, maybe Senator or Davidb415 can fill you in. I have heard there is a Chesapeake Knife & Tool store in the Concord Mills Mall, and know for sure there is a Bass Pro Shops outlet store in the same mall too. Heard it is a friggin' huge place! Bass Pro has some nice edged tools in their hunting catalog. Hope this helps!

Prof,
Just south of CHarlotte, in a little town acroos the state line, Ft Mill, SC. THere is a nice shope, called THE KNIFE SHOP. Right on Main St., can't miss it. Ft Mill is really a southern suburb,...only about 20 minutes down I-77. Nice place, ...owner is Bill Richardson. Senator, DeadNC, and Myself have been known to frequent the place. Have a nice trip.

Professor - please drop me a line at senator@carolina.rr.com . I can give you more detailed directions to The Knife Shop in Ft. Mill. As for the Chesapeake store, last time I called the mall it was not open yet. The Bass Pro shop had the typical assortment of Case, Gerber, etc., with a few Benchmades thrown in. I wouldn't go there soley for the knives, but the store itself is impressive if you're into anything outdoorsy.

Davidb415 and I will be leaving early Saturday morning for an outdoors show in Columbia, SC. Several SC Knifemakers Guild members (8-10 from what I hear) will be set up at the show, including GenO Denning and George Herron. We'd love to have you join us in you're interested. It's about 90 minutes south of Charlotte. Lemme know...

The knife shop in concord mill mall is open, but very pricey.many Spydies and BMs at above MSRP.
The Bass pro shops have good prices, but deal primarily with hunting knives and a few slip joints.
The Knife Shop in Fort Mill, mentioned above,is a real old timey knife store with a pretty good selection. It is a great place to go.They have a little bit of everything.
There is also a very nice knife shop in theCarolina Place Mall. The mall is at the intersection of I-485 and Hwy 51 in Pineville, a Charlotte suburb. They are loaded with Spydies,BMs Camillus and Bokers.
The owner allows a little dickering on price.
Or join Kelly and me at the Outdoor Show.Should be great fun.

I wish there were some good stores. The store in Carolina Place Mall is called Stacey's Knife Shop. I haven't been there in a while, but they had a respectable selection last time I stopped by. Of course, mall overhead prices are ridiculous, and I wouldn't even consider buying anything there, although I am considering getting a summer job there

. The store in Concord Mills SUCKS. ITTY BITTY little room with a few knives here and there, not to mention bad prices. The Bass Pro Shop isn't even worth mentioning for knives, but I spent quite a bit of time looking around at other stuff. I've never ben to the place in Fort Mill.

Thanks for the suggestions gentlemen. I got down there Thursday evening and couldn't remember my password to respond to you guys. I couldn't access my email to have it sent to me -- it was a comedy of errors.

I stopped by Stacy's in the mall. Pricey and retail-oriented, but a good selection of the new stuff I wanted to handle. I especially like the new Camillus Terzoula fixed blade. Stacey's son said he sold two to the same fella a couple of days before. I figured it was one of you guys. I was really, really tempted, but couldn't see paying 171.00 when I saw it here for 95.00; it is nice to be able to see what you're buying though. Anyhow, I appreciate the invite to the little place south of the border and will definitely take you guys up on it if in town again. Take care. Professor.
