I live in Jersey, so a train to the city is pretty cheap and quick. I'm planning to go again soon, any places I should check out?

Paragon, REI and the boy scout store are the only ones I'm aware of in Manhattan.

Paragon -

The custom case is worth a look. The production side is mostly more NYC friendly stuff - Traditions, Swiss Army, occasionally a smaller less aggressive tactical makes its way into the case.

Mastersmiths -

Korin is interesting for chef and kitchen goods -

Westpfal might be worth a look if close, just because it's one of Ny's last remaining cutlery places -

J B Prince has some decent chef knives, and nice kitchen ware -

Those are all the ones that are open, and maybe of interest. Real estate costs, plus the crackdown on sporting and folding cutlery, has made NYC more or less just a kitchen cutlery town now. It's a shame, because 20 - 30 years ago, I probably could've gave you 15 - 20 spots off the top of my head.

Such a shame that probably one of the largest metropolis in the country is ruled by tyrants .. coming to your town next week .

Production Knives at Fred Eisen Leather & Art Knives http://production-knives.com

I left the area in 1988 before Fren Eisen Leather and Art Knives got there. New Hope was like and arts and crafts town, we went for the headshops. Walk around, visit the shops and get something to eat. I'd think it's still similar today.
