I am on vacation and wanted to check out a knife store while here. Specifically kershaw and spyderco brands. Anyone know where any are located.

If you are heading into TN, there is always that big knife store in Sevierville TN. They are billed as the largest knife store in the country.

They are not one of the Blade Forum sponsors. Do a google search on knife Sevierville tn and you should see it pop up. I have had mods kind of mention this to me in past posts.

I have been there many times.

I found it its definitely out of my way. So is it worth it?

Smokey Mounain Knife Works? Yes, its totally worth going to if you like knives. Spyderco, Benchmade, Emerson, Microtech, Protech, Kershaw, Esee, Tops, Ka-Bar, etc. Prices run close to MSRP. They also have a great selection of firearms and ammunition as well. Also, who couldn't love some nice mountains? :D

You may well spend hours inside their store. It is a fun place to go if you like knives. Prices are pretty much the same as you will see at their online site and you can see the kind of stuff they sell there. Worth it to drive there...? Depends. I certainly would not drive all the way from Asheville just to go there unless you intend to spend some time in that part of the Smoky MT NP or you can swing by there as part of your return trip perhaps. Cades Cove is often great, especially if you have never been there.

theres a mass general store in ashville that has a small be decent selection of knives and other outdoor equipment

You will probably see the full line of SOG knives there as well as a good selection of CRKT knives. ZT's yep. Spydie, yep. Lots of Kabar stuff. Like any store, it depends on what they have in inventory now. They sell a lot of knives. Good selection of Condor stuff too which is where I buy many of my Condor blades in person. A number of outlet stores are in the building next door. Worth looking at Lodge stuff or it is for me. They have a wonderful selection of Vic SAKs, Boker, ESEE, Case. Really a fun place to browse. Allow a couple hours. I buy my cheap Vic kitchen knives there. Prices are not full retail, but are generally a bit higher than some of the online places.

Don't go there 30 minutes before closing or you will be frustrated. They literally lock the doors at closing time. Weekends are generally pretty busy during the summer months. Weekdays are better if you want to look at a lot of stuff. I seldom walk out of there without spending at least $100 and often $200+. It's that kind of place. Been there two or three times this year.

If you are pinched for time, ask when you go in where the such and such brand is located. They have each brand together and it's easy to miss stuff. It is a pretty big place.

Well its not looking like i will have time to go to smoky mountain knife works. I stayed in asheville nc and am now staying a day longer trying to see the bristol Nascar race thats been rain delayed. I have to go pick my son up in nashiville tomorrow. So anywhere around Nashville or between nashville and saint louis mo would work. But once i go to nashville the store is 3 hours away in the opposite direction. So any recommendation would be great. Thanks everyone.

There are no knife stores worth mentioning in Asheville. Trust me, I live here. If it wasn't Sunday, you could drive out to Arden about 15 mins away, to microtechs facility, and ask what takes so long every time someone sends a blade in for warranty work. Lol

Don't known the logistics of your drive, but don't you pass Seierville when you drive from Ashville to Nashville?

GP Knives is near St Louis.

No knife stores that I know of, but some great restaurants... Papas and Beer, Doc Chey, 12 Bones...

micro brewery town nowadays... 30 something of them downtown nowadays. nothing like it used to be up there. course asheville steel is up there somewhere...
