Yep RW is a real character and a good knife maker - here's his website if you want to learn more about him and see more of his work.

Lordy, lordy, I remember way, way back and R.W. At one time I sent my blades to him for heat treat. He was the guy that I bought all that rag micarta off of. I sure wish he had more :)
Stay in contact with him. He is most knowledgeable.

I bought some of his finishing oil for maple. Great stuff. I spent a half hour with him on the phone as he walked me through the best way to finish a handle. I enjoyed talking to him and he seems to know his stuff.

I was fortunate enough to get to stay with him a few days when I very first started. He is one of those guys that you could watch all day and never quit learning. he is a character and quite the cook too, I might add. His house itself is a museum. Not a single piece of trim around the doors or base boards are boring. All birds eye maple. I'm only 2hrs from him but have only got to go up a couple of times. I bought one of his grinders and use it every day.
