Any polyurethane o-ring issues to report with the Umnumzaan?

If any of my woodworking tools had polyurethane o-rings I'd be nervous.
Should the polyurethane o-rings be good for the long haul, or is it a given that replacements will be needed at some time.
If you take 'em off would the knife not perform properly?
I'm interested in the Umnumzaan, possibly more than the large Seb 21, but have a couple of reservations.
Besides the initial thumb stud issue, that was quickly resolved, have there been any legitimate criticisms about the Umnumzaan?

The o-rings will wear out eventually but they are so easy to buy/replace it's just not a problem. The knife will work just fine with out the o-rings as well, they are just there as a sort of shock absorber.

I have been carrying mine every day for many months now and have had no problems to speak of at all. :)

Haze knows his stuff

I have many large Sebenzas, only one Umnumzaan. The Umnumzaan will not leave my pocket! It's a combo of a lot of very usefull features for me.

It would be hard to pick just one, but if I were you I'd start off with a Umnumzaan and see if you still want the large 21.

Really the Umnumzaan is just that damn good :D

LOL....funny this should come up. I had the same feelings and put off get my Zaan for a long while.

Will the rubber wear out, will the lock up be the same without them in place, how will I ever find new ones if they are needed???

Turned out to be just a bunch of needless worries! My Tanto Zaan has become one of my top EDCs. It gets more carry time than my Classic 21, which is saying alot. Found out the local hardware carries similar o-rings, found out that the lock up is just exactly the same with or without the o-rings. And, I found out that the noise reduction of having them is killer cool. I can open it with just a subtle whisper. Neat!

Get one bro.....you won't be sorry.
