Any Robert Earl Keen fans here? (Definitely an acquired taste.)

I just got his latest— Rose Hotel. Not his best, but some of the songs are starting to grow on me.

Yes sir. I didn't know he had a new one out. I gotta check it out. Iwas listening to it on my computer here at work. You must be from TX.

Naaa...not from Texas. Most I can say is I've passed through at time or two. There's just something about Texas songwriters, and REK is definitely one of the best.

His first two albums are must-haves. Bigger Piece of Sky is probably my favorite—besides those first two.

Didn't know he had a new one out.....

Been a fan since I first heard Over the Waterfall and Levelland on the local (Arlington, TX) radio back in 97. Bought Picnic, enjoyed the hell out of it and followed up with West Textures, Gringo Honeymoon, and A Bigger Piece of Sky. Picnic's still my favorite but I'll be AFBFC (away from BFC) to check out Rose Hotel.

Thanks for the heads up!

(anything new on the horizon for Chris Duarte???)

Ah, Robert Earl Keen. I think he went downhill after he lost the "jr.". He started out great, was a normal guy... but "sold out". I've seen him a couple of times here in Chicago land, but was greatly disappointed in his attitude towards the very same people that came out to see him. He acted like a total asshole in the last show I saw him at. I've seen many performers that seem to truly appreciate their fans, and I was flabbergasted that someone who seemed like he would be a regular guy would act like a mega-famous prick who's poop didn't stink.

I have all of his early stuff... everything where he is still REK jr., and about half of the stuff after. I think "West Textures" is about as great as it gets. The man can write and perform a great "story song" when he wants to. Just got a little too big for his britches in my opinion. Sad.

I wish I hadn't of read that. :(

I've seen him without incident, but my son-in-law has a similar story to Mongo's. BTW-Levelland was written by an even better songwriter, James McMurtry.

Been a fan for years. Saw him live a couple of years ago. Some of his very best songs are outside of his more iconic items like "Merry Christmas from the Family" and "The Road Goes On Forever".

"Mariano" is simply great.

"The road goes on forever and the party never ends..."
That was kinda our "house" song for a while in a bar I worked in in Berlin.
