Any thoughts on the Ek Model 1

Anyone have any general thoughts or comments on the Ek Model 1? Either the old style or the newer styles. I was thinking about purchasing an Ek and wanted to start with a classic and work my way up from there.

Any thoughts...

Do a search for Ek knives under MelancholyMutt. He owns a good number of them

The Ek 1 is a GREAT knife, classic design. Personally, I'd stick with the Richmond, VA knives, or the current production line, not the Effingham ones, though they aren't bad. The only thing with the Effingham ones is that the quality control was spotty. (occasional warped blade, bad grind lines)

I'd go with the classic Ek 1 in maple handles (original spec) if I was ordering a new one.

Of course, if you find a Miami one for cheap, you got yourself the deal of a century

Not a problem..just avoid the "expedition knives" Eks (when effingham ran into trademark issues)
