Being a man of large size, ie a fat sumb!tch, I tend to go through shoes pretty quickly. Hiking shoes last about a year, and I don't hike that much. Thankfully, walking shoes are going up much quicker due to walking, rather than loafing around, for once. I've got a pair of oxfords for work, a pair of work boots, a pair of walking shoes and a pair of hiking shoes. Too much, but with diabetes, neuropathy, obesity and other ailments, I have found that cycling through different shoes tends to save them a bit. Of course, my work boots might not go over too well in the office, or on the trail. I have a pair of Jungle Mocs for my everyday shoes. They are slip ons from Merrell, and were quite comfortable. I have swelling in the feet and calves, and these shoes are comfortable for that. Driving long distances, I wear those shoes for comfort. It's about that time to retire these Mocs to the junk pile, and pick up a new pair. I am getting mine at REI because of the rebate, but was looking at other brands. Skechers make a similar type of shoe, but I've found that Skechers last about two months before they give up the ghost. I saw that Dockers make a similar shoe too. All of these are cheaper than the Merrell but not as well made.

I've had the Merrells and also a similar shoe from Keen. The Merrels weren't that comfortable. I had the suede kind, not leather. The Keens were more comfortable and held up better but are pretty ugly. They were around 100-110..

I have also had LL Bean Comfort Slides or something like that that are pretty comfortable but run small. Those were around $80. They are a slide with no heel so you would not hike, even light, with them but they look pretty good for casual wear.

I've been looking at the Danner 3" Fowler. I haven't pulled the trigger on them because I don't like buying shoes without trying them on, but they look good. Danner quality, slip on and better looking than the Keen. They are also in the $110 range

I really like Keen Newports. They're extremely comfy and are made wide for people with gigantor feet like me. I'm a double E in width. I've had a pair that I still wear from time to time as a beater shoe that are about 6 years old so they hold up well. And they've held up from constant wearing. I wear them around town and I hike in them as well. Not great for the middle of winter unless you wear socks and then your THAT GUY that wears socks with sandals. :D They're great for 3 season though.

I've got a pair of Keen sandals, and they are pretty comfortable. I didn't know they made slip on shoes. Will check them out.
