So, anybody carry their folder in a belt sheath?

Kydex, Leather or Cordura?

Horizontal or Vertical carry?

If Horizontal, blade up or down?

If Vertical, tip up or tip down?

Just curious...:D

[edited to add] show pics of you got 'em!

1. Me :)

2. Standard Benchmade cordura sheath, small or large, depending on knife (small at the time, BM720).

3. Horizontal .

4. Blade down.

It depends for me. If I'm doing yardwork, etc. then yes, I will have either a Buck 110/112/Alpha or Gerber Gator on my belt. Generally, tip up, vertical. Otherwise, occasionally a fixed blade. Rest are usually clipped or riding loose in a pocket somewhere. My wave is also in a pouch sheath on my belt.

I carry the following knives in horizontal sheath's blade up.large and small sebenza, buck custom shop 110 and a 112,large spyderco wegner and a paramilitary.
horizontal carry works the best for me.

2 knives actually. In a horizontal Spec Ops Brand Super sheath I carry a Buck 112, blade down; and in a sheath made for the 112 I carry the Buck Mayo 172- blade forward. Good for me, anyway. I tried carrying these two in the other sheath, but the 112 just fits better in the cordura sheath. the 172 is a PERFECT fit for the 112 sheath (that darn clip was too tight to get onto my pocket).

I carry my Sebenza in a canted belt sheath point up, and hopefully soon my AR will ride in a similar styled sheath, if I ever get the time to sit down and finish it. :o

I prefer belt carry as it frees up pocket space, and it keeps the pocket clip from scratching the car door, he wife still hasnt let me forget that one. :(

I always carry either a BM or Spyderco in a BM cordura sheath mounted horizontally, blade down (i.e. edge up). Good for one-haded opening. In addition, sometimes I carry a leather sheath (vertical) for a slipjoint.

The only folder I carry in a sheath is the Gunting. I have a few leather sheaths by BFC member Vess:

Mine are also horizontal, but knife is flipped with the "horn" up. I also asked Vess to tilt the open end of the sheath up about 20 degrees for a bit more security - keeps the knife in when I run around but still draws easily with either hand. If I ever get any more custom leather folder sheaths I will definitely ask for this again.

Vess' stuff is at: stuff

Buck 112 most days, 110 others, depending where I expect to be. Vertical & leather.

Horizontal Cordova sheath, pull whatever knife I decide to EDC on any given day out by lanyard.
Works well for me. ;)

Usually a Buck 501, but sometimes a 112 or 110...leather/vertical. Model varies depending on expected need. Preston

Buck 110, vertical, tip up, black leather sheath it came with. I do like keeping it loose in my pocket though. This is the only knife i carry anymore.

Yes, I do occasionally carry one of my folders in a belt sheath. I carry my GB in a leather belt sheath. And I intend on purchasing a belt sheath for my Sebbie. I carry my Mission in a sheath.

Depending on what I am doing on a given day, I will carry my Skirmish in a cordura sheath mounted horizontally. Fits nicely next to my multi-tool.

I did back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I carried the following at one time or another in horizontal nylon and other synthetics:

Bucklite (model 422)
Buck 112
Gerber Bolt Action
Gerber Magnum LST

In the mid 1990s, other gear had to go onto the belt, so the knives went back to the pocket clips (except for my multi-tool).

Sak or MT and a knife on my belt. Some days it's a folder, some it's a small BRKT.
