Title says it all: Has anybody used Remitly to send money or payments? PayPal has a lot of restrictions and I'm considering payment options. I'd appreciate hearing from folks who've used Remitly. Thanks in advance!

I have a few lady friends in Philippines and Thailand and have used Remitly for about 4 years now with no problems. I think their fee is $3.99 per transaction and money is available immediately.

I use remitly all the time to get payments overseas, BUTTTTTTTTTTTT i changed to western union.

Remitly is a lovely way to receive/send money overseas.

The only reason why i changed it to western union is because SOMETIMES remitly will ask a bit too much deep personal information from its customers, like bank statement screenshots and such.

Obviously this is to ensure identity of users and guarantee there is no money laundering happening, but you know, i know very few people willing to share such personal information.

Despite that, they have a 24/7 striking fast customer service, needed it a few times, was one of the best i have ever experienced on all areas.

I would easily recommend, processed more than 80 transfers on 2022 using it. Paypal sucks!

Thank you for the very helpful post. Much appreciated. I'm going to sign up this weekend and see how it goes. I won't be sending them any bank statements though... o_O

I think I will also open an account with Wise. They have a Business Account option, which costs €50 to open, but I really need to have a few Paypal alternatives. I just don't like being dependent on whatever Paypal may decide to do for my entire business.

Yeah this happened to me on 2021 too.

One day paypal literally just blocked my account and asked me to submit a ton of documents. Suppliers receipts, proof of shipment and delivery for every single transaction, my ID, proof of contact from customers (like inquiry for orders).

I submitted LITERALLY everything. My account still was permanently blocked and they claimed it was too high risky business. They held my funds for 180 days, which almost broke my business as im full time.

From my experience, i can tell paypal is amazing for US residents, but other than that, im afraid of them as a company.

Wow, I've heard some other similar stories about Paypal over the years. In the EU they are legally a bank and must adhere to the rules for any bank. But in the end, they can make their own rules and decide whatever they want. I have never had any problems with them myself but I have a rather new product that I'm trying to get them to OK for use with their service. They said OK on the phone, but I said, I need that in writing and right now I'm still waiting for OK in writing. So this looks like a good time to get some alternative payment options in place. Always good to have a backup plan when your livelihood is at stake. Right now business in Germany is a disaster in just about all areas.

What’s going on in Germany that is causing problems?
