Anybody Still Use a Pulse?

Just wondering if anybody still uses their Leatherman Pulse. I found mine in the trunk of the car today, and that prompted me to go out and buy a new Leatherman sheath for it since the old one was covered in oil. This is quite the handy tool, and I don't really need to access my tools without opening the pliers anyway; that's what I have a SAK for.

I've been using a Pulse at work since they came out. Love the size combined with locking tools.

I use a Leatherman Pulse in rotation with other multitools, e.g., Victorinox Spirit, SOG PowerLock, etc.

I bought the (new old stock) Pulse on eBay long after Leatherman discontinued the model because it had features I wanted, e.g., 4 inch length, narrow profile, scissors, locking blades, hard wire cutter, decent file, etc. Plus, it was built like original Leatherman tools -- free of plastic.

It came with the thick, old fashioned leather belt case witha snap cover which is a favorite of mine.

Some owners don't care for the locking scheme, but I found it much easier to unlock blades than the Leatherman Supertool which requires one to lift a second blade to disengage the lock.

My problem with the Pulse lock release levers is they dig into my hand when gripping the handles. Otherwise, it works well, better than the ST200 version, which pushes against greater resistance, really a chore with wet or cold thumbs. Overall, I prefer the current Blast/Core models. At last Leatherman got it right.

I love my pulse, best combo of tools for me. I really don't like having "woodcraft" tools and "urban/ mechanic" tools together. IMO I'd rather carry a real saw ect, than a short one taking up space. I'll replace it when it wears out with a SOG, so I can custom the tools, and probably swap the can opener for a full serrated blade. mine has been EDC I think for the last 7 years or so, and gets used all of the time.

Generally, I like Leatherman multi's but I stopped carrying them at work after an incident a few winters back. I was strolling an icy flat roof with the tool open for plier use. I slipped on the ice and noticed the blades and other implements deployed by themselves.
When I got home, I tried repeating the incident with other Leathermans by holding the pliers and shaking the tool...sure enough, the implements flew out of the handles. While I shouldn't have been walking around on ice with the tool in hand, it still scared me off carrying at work.
Other than that, I'd still carry the Pulse, but I have the new Wave,Surge, and Core at my disposal when working around the house.;)

...

That is a function of how tight the screws are adjusted. My old Supertool never deployed the blades when shaken until I loosened the screws a little too much a few days ago.

You can tighten up the screws and the blades stay put. However, then they have a tendency to clump together.

My Victorinox Spirit and SwissTool X blades stay where they should and do not clump.

I'm still lookin' for one, I always seem to miss 'em on the bay, but I think its the perfect leatherman.
The tool selection seems like the best combo out there, and if I carry a multitool, I really cant do without a decent file on it..

I recently found my old Pulse and have started carrying it again.
