I found out about this soap in Cliff Jacobson's book, "Camping's top secrets".
It's biodegradeable and can be used for almost everything. The place I got it from said 473ml was about $15, but they will fill your own container by weight. So, I got, 1 litre (1000 ml) for $ 21.75 which I thought was a better deal. It seems like a good product that goes a long way. Do anyone of you fellas use it in the bush and did I pay too much ??

funny you should bring this up when you did, last night I was at my buddies helping cook( I am usally vegi-chopper) and when I said hey where's your soap to scrub up if pointed me to a little bottle of Dr.Bronner's "18 in one" soap a little drop was all I needed to scrub up and it made my skin feel great , smells good too. He got his as a sample when his daughter ran a "youth for change" ezine ,

He swears by it and from what I saw its decent stuff, it was actully one of those products that you "wow that's pretty good stuff" even though I haven't used it much.

hope this helps

I use it a lot. It's castille soap so it is biodegradeable, but you still shouldn't use it directly in water sources such as rivers or lakes. I keep an eye dropper full of it in each of my BOBs and in my regular outdoor gear.

I've been using it for close to 20 years, especially when I was guiding and spent 6+ months a year camping out. You can use it for everything: washing dishes, your body, hair, for brushing your teeth (better than nothing, especially if you use the tea tree oil or peppermint, which have essential oils in it, and should have some antiseptic qualities), etc. It's a little diluted, so it doesn't work as well for coating the bottom of your pans before cooking on a fire (to make cleaning the soot easier), and you also have to use more drops of it than you do for some other camp soaps, but it's still my favorite. Plus the wacky labeling is always interesting to read.

I've heard some people say that the peppermint, almond and citrus attract bears, but I've never heard anyone having first hand experience with this, always "I've heard that..." or "My friend said..." I could see some of the scents attracting bees, as I've seen bees go for people with fragrant lotion on. Just some food for thought.

I don't know about good prices.

I tend to use

Looks like I bought a good thing. I use onlyunscented products because I seem to get a rash whenever I try scented stuff. ( I bought the unscented Dr.Bronner's).
Plus , I don't like smellin' like a fruit-loop,LOL !

I use it daily. The little bottle tends to clog so I poke it with a toothpick.

Bronner is the best been using it for prolly 15 years everyday .. Great natural product and the pepermint won't give u a rash Castile soap is very gental soap

I have been using Bronners for many years and first tried to help with itching and flaking scalp. After a couple of weeks the condition disappeared which I attributed it to being all natural. In addition to using it for personal hygene, I wash vegetables with it as it does not leave any perfumey or chemical residue whatsoever. My favorites are tea tree, lemon and hemp oils.

Campsuds is real good ,also. I used to use it a lot but couldn't find it anymore. Dr. Bronners seems to be just as good, maybe not as concentrated.
It's nice to have a multi-task product when you can find one.

My fiancee swears by it for using on new piercings to keep them from getting infected, as well as on mildly infected scrapes or scratches. Always seems to work wonders! She uses the lavender and it smells great!

Doc Bronner is good stuff. It seems to do it all. I have used it in lieu of toothpaste on occasion:)

it is a great product. it is the sak of soap in my opinion. i had not thought of using it for emergency tooth paste. i will have to try that.

Wow - thanks for the heads up on this guys. I make my own soap for home use - but I have not ventured into making liquid soap.

Sounds like a little goes a LONG way.

Another +1 for this fine product. I love stuff you can use for many tasks! I have been using for more years than I like to admit. The peppermint is refreshing and the unscented is good as well. I've used Campsuds, too, but the local grocery carries the Dr. Bronner's and my nearest REI is two hours away. I think you will like this stuff! :)

I use the Peppermint and even use it to shave with. As an aside, I have never cut myself shen shaving with "The Doctor"...

Me too! Hot or cold process?

Oh, I forgot to mention that I also use Bronners to shave with. Commercial brands of shaving cream are real harsh for my skin and I was never crazy about all the chemicals them.

There's a cold process?!

liquid soap should be easy, when working with tallow, just don't add salt.

off to google to find out how to make soap "cold".

Yes, been using Peppermint and Tea Tree for years now. Take it everywhere, use it for everything.
