I was wondering if anybody uses Mil-Comm TW25B grease on their Chris Reeve folders? Are there any advantages to other types of lubricants like the CRK fluoro grease?

In my small mind, there can't be any advantages to other types of lubricants. Per CRK, they chose their lube carefully, tested it and it has stood the test of time. Although knives sometimes seem simple to users, the engineering and materials choices are not simple. Since CRK makes premium knives, I'd assume their recommended lubricant was chosen based upon performance not price.

Never used anything but the CRK fluoro.

It works perfect, and lasts a very long time.
I might be getting old, or maybe I've just learned to stop messing with things that don't need improvement!

Thank you for your replies. I will head your advice and buy the Chris Reeve Fluoro Grease.

That's a good call. You won't be disappointed. Just make sure you apply very sparingly. A thin film is all it takes. A tube should last you at least a couple of years.

I only use Mobil 1 synthetic wheel bearing grease. Normally a couple full pumps a week do it for me. :D ;) :)

I like TW-25 for firearms, especially Glock triggers. I had that same, "Hey I bet this would work great on my CRK..."

and it didn't. I'm not sure what the deal was, but it was not even close to being as smooth as the CRK stuff.

The one lube that DOES impress me, and my new go-to for CRK and my Spyderco Slysz Bowie is 85 wt nano oil. It's thicker (not quite like honey, but more like a syrup) than oil, which tends to dissipate too quickly. The action, especially after it's been on a few days is really, really smooth.

The biggest difference between the 85 wt nano and the CRK grease is in the deployment. MUCH easier to thumb-flick open the knife with Nano oil.
