Hi all. I'm totally new to making knives and will be taking a class next week at the New England School of Metalwork. It's a stock removal class and will be my first completed knife. Has anyone been up there, have recommendations for food/other things to do, or any advice on taking a first class? I've spent a frightening amount of time on this site reading posts over the last couple of weeks and the sheer amount of information that has been contributed and shared is amazing and slightly overwhelming. Thanks to all of you who take the time to help those of us just starting out and who haven't got a clue.

I have been to all five hammer in's there, taken a week long class with Howard Clark and did a one day seminar with Larry Fuegen. I absolutely recommend the school and the staff are professional and friendly. The hardest part of the class will probably be having to leave and return to your shop which is probably not nearly well set up as the school. They have Bader, KMG, Hardcore, and TW-90 grinders, power hammers, a press, coal and gas forges, sword heat treat forges, induction heater, ect,........ Its quite a place! Have fun, be safe and I am sure you will have a wonderful time.

Thanks for the reply! I got the idea I wanted to make a knife and it was the first place I found with a class. My shop at the moment is a couple of saw horses and some files so I have no doubt that after its done ill be spending even more time online looking at new ways to spend money. Again, thanks for the reply. I'm going in blind, so a glowing review is reassuring.
