Wonder if anyone has a wallet attached to a chain. Would you recommend them?

I wouldn't wear one, but some motorcyclists find them useful to keep from losing wallets while riding. Other than that single use, it's just a bit of man-jewelry.

I used to carry one. I stopped after I snagged the chain and ripped my wallet out of my pants....rear pocket and all. It was quite embarrassing. :o

I did in the 70's. Truckers wallets they called them. Now Skateboarders seem to favor them and Punks.

in the late '80's i was a skater punk and chainwallets were uber cool. although i did like the idea of a retention device for my wallet, lanyards have become another poser fashion staple (the bigger the chain, the better). now i just carry mine in a buttoned cargo pocket.

as far as real truckers, one told me he liked it because he could toss his wallet on the seat next to him and drive without sitting on it, and not forget it when he got out.

Yep. Motorcyclist.

I stopped in the desert one time for a "call of nature". Along with Nature's deposit, I left my (unattached) wallet with all my cash, credit card, licence etc. Never to be seen again.

Been carrying a chain wallet when riding the bike for the last 20 years since that incident.

No more wallets left lying around in the desert.

Wore one in the late 70's- 'wannabe cool guy'.
Makes sense for bikers/truckers. Anybody else, it's an affectation/fashion thing.

A chain wallet is common sence. It is another layer of added protection to avoid loss. It is very time consuming to replace things like driver' license, and credit cards. Chain wallets look good too.

Where can you get a titanium chain?

Oh, an dno, I dont wear a chain on my wallet, but would if I robe a bike.

I hear that chained wallets are also popular in places where "pick-pockets" are problem.
I wore one while in Vegas.

I like the style of the chain wallet but since I carry my wallet buttoned in a BDU cargo pocket, I don't use the chain. They used to be big with truckers because before fuel cards, truckers had to carry large sums of cash for their fuel stops on a trip. The chain was to make sure they didn't lose that wallet. Well, that's what one of the old timers told me when I first started driving OTR(over-the-road).

it's harder for the gypsies stealing your wallet .. no joke !! we have trained thiefes in our town who can steal your pants while you were em ..

I too would like to know. I do ride a bike, and I worry about my wallet a lot.
I have a titanium wallet chain. It is a nice thickness and is 23 inches long. It really light though and doesn't weigh me down. I used to have a nice sterling silver chain, but sold it because it was on the heavy side. I'm at work right now, so I will post a pic and find the site when I get home.

I would like to know too.

It's nice to have something you need attached (sort of) to your body, especially someone who's as absent-minded as me.

Actually, if anyone could show me any links to any small and slim chain wallets that possibly also have coin departments, that would be great .... I lost my previous non-chain wallet recently and I think it would be nice to have the chain option back again ;)

Here is the pics that I promised.

He makes different styles depending on what you want. Mine is the European Simple Chain in 10mm. I suggest 10mm because it will look like a standard size wallet chain. Anything smaller will look, well, too small. Also, believe it or not, the smaller the links, the more expensive the chain because it requires more links to make it and means more material.

I stopped wearing one in the 6th grade when the teachers kept confescating them.... or telling us to put them in our pockets because it was "gang related". Kinda forgot about them.

I gave one a try for about a week...If your active in your job and change enviroments a lot I think they are dangerous they snag and catch on things. At the least the tear your pocket.:barf:
