As I'm sitting here watching 24, I can't help but be curious- have any of yall ever EDCed or extended carried a halo in your pocket? It is a very cool knife, and should be legal to carry in Texas soon, but just how safe or usable is it every day? I know it's big, but anyone ever give carrying one a go?

There's a reason they don't put a pocket clip on them.

There are several ways to carry a HALO, depending on where you live.

My cousin stubby MacIssac used to carry a Microtech Halo in his pocket. Back then we used to call him Bob.

I see the general consensus is a negative. I've seen some pocket kydex that people have used before. Either way, this is what happens when I break out the 24 dvds- I convince myself I need a halo.

I'd recommend a kydex with a 550 cord shoulder rig. Myself as well as others here can make you one.

i own a halo 2 and a halo 5 i carry them both [not together] in my front pocket almost every day for several years . first of all they are not that easy to open u have to really push on the button. if the button is facing inward against the body theres no way in hell its opening. it also helps if u dont carry anything else in that pocket. some jeans i have the pocket sewed where the knife stays off to the right along the leg seam.i will say u need a deep pocket for the halo 5 i dont carry it this way much but the halo 2 no problem. now i know its there i know the buttons in and theres nothing else there i wouldnt suggest a bunch of keys etc and blade up. the way i see ity its no different than a .45 cocked and locked. safe all day with some men accident waiting for others. i can say ive carried one that way well over a thousand days

Microtechs (in general) aren't easy to deploy, but I'd still like to see a safety lock on their OTF's.

As I recently acquired a HALO II and V this is a good conversation.

what is the collective wisdom, if any, of the Leading Edge of Knife Discussion intelligentsia regarding the HALO IV with its safety selector switch on the deployment button? Can one safely retain his reproductive organs while securely pocket carrying this tool?

I carry one to work sometimes. Just fits in right front pocket alongside my wallet. Not concerned with it going off. Never quite understood the incessant fear of an auto opening in your pocket? But hey that’s just me ymmv

It happens. Read it in the paper. My uncle, a cop, had it happen with an arrestee. Has happened to people on the forms.

I view a single action automatic knives the same way I view single action semiautomatics. I view DA OTF knives the same way I view DAO revolvers.

One is way more forgiving of going into a pocket without something covering the switch that fires the thing.

I would love a Halo. Dunno when will have that kind of money for something that isn't convent to carry or use. Very cool knives though.
