I have a tiny little green bone congress that I can't really make out. I was told by the gentleman that sold it to me that he thought it was a "Kane Cutter" brand. Anyone ever heard of that name?

It has 1095 carbon steel blades and two of them read "JDC Kane,PA". Perhaps that is where he got the Kane part from.

It's the top right knife in this very out of focus cell phone photo.

If anyone is wondering, the bottom two stag knives are Bulldog's and the upper left is a Queen.

The only Kane Kutter I have is a fairly low end all stainless import. There was a Keen Kutter brand made in USA, but I don't know if that is what you have there.

Hey Brasso! Welcome!
Better pics will get you better answers!
Flat-bed photo scanners are dead easy, and you can get this:

It looks German. The stamp was probably intended to be desirable to American buyers.

Edit: I Googled it. The stamp was used by Parker. The knives came with a certificate of authenticity. ;)

Hmm. Tried to scan it. Looks worse than my photo's. The scales are in focus but the blade isn't.

If that's what I think it is, the "JDC Kane,PA" knives were made in Solingen, Germany for "Buzz" Parker in the early '90s, along with knives bearing Holley, Honk Falls, C. Platt's, Crandall, Hollingsworth, Marbles, etc. trademarks - all owned by Parker. Original retail for a 3" Congress in bone was $99.99. They were typical (decent) Solingen-quality knives.

Some close-up pics of the knife & markings would be helpful.

I'm seeing a reference to a "Parker Kansas Kane Cutter" knife on the web (odd pattern, a mid-locking whittler; Japan). It's listed as a 'pre-1984' vintage. The "Parker" might be a clue as to origin. James Parker created many of his own 'inexpensive' brands, and imported many under contract from overseas manufacturers (Japan, Germany at least; maybe China too). "Kane Cutter" might be one of his brands.

It has the exact same markings as that one in the ad photo above. That must be what it is.

Thanks.
