Pathfinder Scout Tomahawk video on YouTube
[go to the 2 minute mark for all the details]

I was looking at getting one of these. They did a production run of 25 and they sold out in 3 hours; They're supposed to have a steady supply of them in March. Basically it's $100 for the 5160 high-carbon, handforged steel tomahawk. It's made in America and comes with a handstitched sheath and belt loop.

Is it too good to be true?
Anyone get one of the first 25?

i was wondering about those also, they look good, but im curios if they are every thing he says they are.

If the heat treat is proper a 5160 blade will cut anything. Ed Fowler did an article in Blade mag about 5160 and speaks very highly of it. He does a very specific heat treat on the steel though so it would be good to compare what is being done on the hawks vs what Ed Fowler suggests.

Best regards

Robin

They are just the Longhunter model sold by 2Hawks.

On his site, he says they are 6150, not 5160. Either way, a great spring steel.

I've seen some in person, they are very nicely finished, though the head was loose on one. They were sharp, but not real sharp (no hair shaving from the box).

Overall, I'd say they are worth what you pay for them. Seems like Dave is getting them with the sheath and belt hanger for about what you pay for just the hawk (probably got a quantity discount), so maybe try to get on the list to get them when they come in, or lurk about and shark one as fast as you can.

Canterbury's blade choices have always struck me as weird but this one I'm on the same page with. He needs a longer handle though.:D

I emailed 2hawks about a week ago and he was quoting a 4 week lead time if you want to go straight to the source.

Not sure about the model that Dave is selling, but we have one of 2hawks other models and it is well finished and a super hawk to use. If you deal with Devin direct he is very nice to work with.

You're right! It even has the same insignia on the side (just noticed it in the video). But is it the Longhunter or the Woodsman? That size seems more like the Woodsman to me.

That seems like a great price compared with 2Hawks though, especially since it comes with a sheath and belt loop. I'll try to snag one.

Anyone catch the weight on the long hunter? Not sure if he said on the vid. Had to play it with the volume off.

I have had the Voyager and the Longhunter for awhile now. I like them both. The Woodsman is much lighter than the Longhunter. Devin calls the Woodsman ultra light. I think that the pathfinder hawk is the Longhunter. I'm glad that I have them now and I made a good purchase in the past. Now that Dave is famous, the price will only go up. Good for Devin Price. No special run on these hawks unless there is some name put on them. The only problem that I have had with them is that the handles seem to get loose easily . I have other hawks that did not pose this problem, unless it landed on the end of the handle while throwing. I don't know if there is a taper on my other hawk heads. When you get the hawk, the handles almost go flush with the top of the head. The handles need to be thicker on the hawk end in my opinion to give you some room to set the head tighter. I am having to use a shim to keep the handle from sinking into the head. I would like to see a composite handle made for these hawks. The wooden handles come scorched. Get extra handles for sure.
