I have been looking at the fiskars X15 axe and was wondering if anyone here had one, and what your thoughts are on it?.

Is the handle slippery at all while chopping?. Does it hold an edge well?.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

I have one & have not used it much. I can say:
The handle is comfortable.
It is easily controlled, being light for its length.
The edge is very easy to sharpen with a stone.
I hit a piece of concrete by mistake (a weak stroke, weeding in the garden). It caused some scratching, but no actual damage.

Thanks for the info. For the price, I dont think I can go wrong:cool:

For the price you will not find a better axe in its size/class. you will not find a better axe for twice its price.

like i said, this is a great little chopper, high carbon steel, unbreakable handle, light weight

buzz

Just got one yesterday.

I've had a 28" Fiskars for about a decade now. It is quite outstanding. Just recently, I added an X7. Jury is still out on that one......

My local Sears had them for $15 on clearance yesterday (the X15, X7's were $12) and I would have snagged one if I didn't already have one. The 15 works brilliantly, and I have heard of some putting a convex edge on it and it working even better. Haven't tried it myself, but I the default edge on it has worked just fine for me.
